Thursday it was being named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month. On Friday, Bucs defensive end Noah Spence picked up a little more recognition for his ever-improving play.
Spence was voted Pepsi Rookie of the Week for his 1.5-sack, five-tackle performance during Tampa Bay’s huge 14-5 win over the Seattle Seahawks that also included one forced fumble.
Bucs teammates linebacker Kwon Alexander (twice) and quarterback Jameis Winston (three times) combined to earn Pepsi Rookie of the Week honors five times last year. Spence’s award this week is Tampa Bay’s first of the season.
Spence is second-leading sacker in the NFL among rookies. His 5.5 quarterback captures trail the six accumulated by Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue.
