Bucs head coach Bruce Arians provided a brief update on a pair of injured key players on Monday after practice. Tampa Bay starting safety Jordan Whitehead missed the end of practice last week and the preseason opener against Cincinnati on Saturday with an undisclosed injury. He was out of practice again on Monday.

“It’s still day-to-day,” Arians said.

Whitehead injured his shoulder in the NFC Championship Game but was able to play in Super Bowl LV two weeks later. He had offseason shoulder surgery, but it is unclear as to whether the injury that is keeping him out is related to his surgically-repaired shoulder.

Bucs backup center Robert Hainsey, the team’s third-round pick, has missed more than a week’s worth of practice due to an undisclosed injury and was also out on Monday. Like Whitehead, Hainsey missed Saturday’s game against the Bengals.

“It’s still day-t0-day with him also,” Arians said.

Hainsey’s status hasn’t changed since August 6 when Arians first said it.

With third-string center Donell Stanley also missing the game, the Bucs moved guard John Molchon over to center and he backed up starter Ryan Jensen. Arians also said that the Bucs lost rookie guard Sadarius Hutcherson for the season due to a potentially torn ACL that he suffered in Saturday’s game.

“He was having a good camp, it’s a shame he injured his knee,” Arians said. “We’ll see how bad it is. It looks like it could be severe, but he was having a good camp.”
