Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield is no stranger to the spotlight, and he’ll soon be under it once again — although not in the way anyone might’ve expected.

Mayfield will be in the spotlight plenty once Tampa Bay gets its 2026 season underway, sure, but he’ll actually be a major focus nationally and internationally well before September. That’s because Netflix announced Wednesday that Season 3 of its popular docuseries, “Quarterback,” will feature Baker Mayfield.

Joining Mayfield in this new season of “Quarterback” will be Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco and Titans quarterback Cam Ward.

The show, which follows NFL quarterbacks through the grind of the season with mic’d-up footage, behind-the-scenes access and glimpses into their personal lives, is produced by NFL Films, Omaha Productions (co-founded by Peyton Manning) and 2PM Productions (founded by Patrick Mahomes).

The first season of “Quarterback” followed Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota during the 2022 NFL season. “Receiver” came next, releasing in 2024 and followed Davante Adams, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Justin Jefferson and Amon-Ra St. Brown throughout the 2023 NFL season.

“Quarterback” then returned for Season 2 in 2025 and kept up with Cousins again, as well as Joe Burrow and Jared Goff during the 2024 campaign.

Season 3 will now follow the new quartet of quarterbacks — Mayfield, Daniels, Flacco and Ward —throughout the 2025 NFL season.

Mayfield reportedly turned down offers to be on the first two seasons, but now he’s sure to be a standout personality on the latest season, which is set to premiere July 14.

“I think it’s great. I think it’s gonna be a great, behind-the-scenes, in-depth look at Baker,” Bucs general manager Jason Licht said on Wednesday’s Pewter Report Podcast. “We knew about it because the cameras were here last year and I had to make sure I knew what days he was being filmed so that I made sure I was on my Ps and Qs… I think it’s gonna be great.

“I think people will see the real Baker. He’s somebody that wears his emotion on his sleeve and he doesn’t hide anything, so people are kind of seeing the real Baker already. But I think you’ll see the real Baker and his wife Emily and his family. It’s gonna be amazing.”

Baker Mayfield Had A Lot Going On During The 2025 Season

The producers of “Quarterback” certainly had a lot to cover regarding Baker Mayfield throughout the 2025 season both on and off the field.

Not only was Mayfield still a relatively new dad at the time this docuseries was being filmed, but he and his wife, Emily, announced in November that they were expecting their second child (who was born last month).

There was also the fact that Mayfield battled through injury after injury last year, dealing with a foot/toe injury, then a right biceps injury, then a knee problem, then an oblique issue, briefly an illness and then a multi-week left shoulder injury. Even in the Bucs’ regular season finale, he had right shoulder and knee injuries. Overall, he was on the team’s injury report in 10 out of the season’s 18 weeks.

So, it’s fair to expect “Quarterback” to spend a lot of time on the physical grind Mayfield dealt with on a week-to-week basis throughout the 2025 season.

There was also the action on the field, which saw a lot of highs early for Baker Mayfield and the Bucs and then a massive downturn over the season’s second half.

Early on, Mayfield was firmly in the NFL MVP conversation off the back of three game-winning drives in the fourth quarter, a monster performance against the eventual Super Bowl champion Seahawks and a big win over a 49ers team that had beaten the Bucs in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Tampa Bay got off to a 6-2 start and Mayfield had completed 63.9% of his passes for 1,919 yards and 13 touchdowns to just two interceptions.

But after that hot 6-2 start came a slide that would cost the Bucs their four-year reign atop the NFC South and five-year playoff streak. Tampa Bay went 2-7 down the stretch to finish 8-9, with Mayfield clearly battling through those aforementioned injuries to the point where it affected the Buccaneer offense and kept that unit from reaching the heights it was looking to reach.

In the end, Mayfield finished his third season in Tampa Bay having completed 63.2% of his passes for 3,693 yards and 26 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.

As disappointing as the second half of the season was and as hard as it might be for Buccaneer fans to relive the final couple of months of 2025, “Quarterback” should give everyone a unique look and some never-before-seen insight into what that stretch was like for Mayfield.

Beyond that, though, viewers are sure to enjoy seeing more of Baker Mayfield, whose mentality and playing style quickly made him a fan favorite in Tampa Bay. If nothing else, this docuseries will give everyone a chance to get their fix of Mayfield during this summer as we wait for the 2026 season to come around.
