The Buccaneers have been using the majority of their official visits thus far on defensive players, but most of those have been along the defensive line – pass rushers specifically.
Last week the team hosted their first cornerback in USC’s Adoree’ Jackson. But, according to a report from Draft Analyst writer Tony Pauline, there will be at least one other cornerback in Tampa Bay on an official visit, San Diego State’s Damontae Kazee.
Pauline reported that Kazee has ten official visits lined up. A few of the other teams on that list are the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings.
Kazee, 5-10, 184 pounds, has been a turnover machine for the Aztecs over the course of his four-year career recording 17 interceptions and 6 forced fumbles (15 of those interceptions came in the last two years, three in one game). He’s a physical outside cornerback who also takes pride in his tackling skills, both in the open field and when laying bigger hits.
Kazee ran a 4.54 40-yard dash, jumped 34 inches in the vertical jump and 10-foot, 3-inches in the broad jump at the NFL Scouting Combine. Right now he’s projected to be a 3rd-to-4th round pick.
