The Buccaneers have added a veteran running back, a move first reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and confirmed by PewterReport.com.

Williams entered the league in 2013 as a seventh-round pick with the Colts, and has played for five teams prior to Tampa Bay, including Bruce Arians and the Cardinals from 2014-2017.

Williams has ran for 971 yards on 219 carries and four touchdowns. He has added 126 yards receiving on 15 catches over the course of his career.

Williams last played for the Lions before being released last week by Detroit. The Bucs added former Cardinals running back Andre Ellington earlier this year, along with guard Earl Watford and linebacker Deone Bucannon, all players who all have played for Arians in the past.

  1. Good pick up.

The RB competition is going to be intense. A mix of vets and 2nd year players.

  2. Bucs need to pick up Jacques Patrick UDFA out of Florida state, kid has great size and speed but was very under appreciated during his time at Florida state so is being over looked.

  3. we will see who makes the roster, but when you’ve got 100 guys in training camp for a new coaching staff it can’t hurt to stack the deck a little with guys who understand the offensive concepts and the practice style from day 1

  4. Glad to see they’re still working on the roster. The RB room still has a few empty chairs that need filling. June 1st cuts coming…

  5. Agreed with Jaques Patrick. He is a big back that can be a hammer for us. We do not have anyone like that on our roster at this time.

  7. Yes BOB, you somehow forget that this team has ZERO money left to spend. They would have to cut McCoy, and Two or three other players to get the money available for both the rookies AND Bell. It just makes no sense.

  12. Maybe he will choose 24, that way if he turns out to be a really good running back or something people can just use their old Cadillac Williams jerseys!

  13. K. Williams was listed as a punt and kick return starter in 2017 for the Cardinals. Also, K. Williams was the primary backup to D. Johnson as the #2 RB. It looks like the Bucs are serious about upgrading the return game along with their ground game.

  15. The Strategy of keeping Smith and not Alexander and Humphries is nuts. I can understand Smith for a one year ‘let’s see how you do contract’. But trying to keep both Smith and McCoy on the Roster, seems to create some unnecessary challenges. It’s a gamble by Licht. I hope for his sake it pays off because not picking an offensive lineman will prove fatal if something happens to our starting five OL’s.

  16. Seat26 I kno it seemed crazy but was kwon worth the 10+ mill he wanted or hump 7+ mill… when u look at the draft we got a fast slot guy and we got our mlb of the future in white I hope. I’m usually a stick with the vet but I feel like we got as much as we cud out of hump and kwon as far as talent. Smith is here still because the left tackle talent in the draft was lacking. And I rather stick with him then trying to break in a new pup.

  17. I loved the Ellington move!! I think A̲E is incredibly underrated. If DJ didn’t turn out to be a grand slam pick, he would have taken off as a HR pick himself. Elite speed, elite hands and route running ability from the RB position, elite agility, and elite shiftiness in open space. That might have been my favorite addition outside Devin White. AE is a game changer if used right

  19. the talent level league wide at LT gives smith all the leverage, even smith was not projected as a very good left tackle out of penn state. I think the plan is to draft a solid left tackle in the next 2 drafts slide smith to RT,the quarter back blind side being more important in a passing league plus we face some talented pass rushers in our division. Also this owner ship does not value offensive lineman, also most lineman would rather fire off the ball rather than step backwards in pass protection, thus a deep D line draft. Good o line are harder to find these days. Who is buying tickets to see pancake blocks in a passing league.
