The Bucs have announced they have again used all four practice squad protection spots. This week they have chosen to protect cornerback Pierre Desir, tight end Deon Yelder, cornerback Rashard Robinson and kicker Jose Borregales.

It is the fourth week in a row the Bucs have protected Yelder. He was elevated from the practice squad against the Rams, but didn’t play a snap on offense. For Borregales, he will be protected for the third straight week, which should be a common occurrence throughout the season.
Week 4’s other protections included cornerback’s Pierre Desir and Rashard Robinson. Robinson, signed last Tuesday, was elevated and played significant special teams snaps against the Rams. Desir was signed the week prior, but hasn’t been called up yet. With Jamel Dean likely to miss some time, the Bucs insured they wouldn’t have corner poached off the practice squad.
Each week every team can protect up to four players from the practice squad. This keeps other teams from being able to sign away those protected players. Protection starts on Tuesday and runs until after each team’s game that week until the following Tuesday. Unprotected players can choose to sign with another team’s active roster at any time, while protected players may only do so once their protection is up each week.
