The Bucs made a flurry of roster moves on Monday to begin the week. They were awarded inside linebacker John Bullock off of waivers after he was let go by the Colts, and signed long snapper Scott Daly. It was earlier reported, too, that Tampa Bay signed running back Kadarius Calloway, outside linebacker Yasir Holmes and wide receiver Dean Patterson IV. Daly, Calloway, Holmes and Patterson were tryouts during Bucs rookie mini-camp that were signed.

To make room for all the players, Tampa Bay waived long snapper Wesley Brown, wide receiver Noah Short, outside lineabcker Benton Whitley and running back Owen Wright.

John Bullock Returns To Bucs

The most notable name of this group is Bullock, who was on the Bucs active roster last season. Bullock signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska and spent all of training camp competing with Nick Jackson for the final inside linebacker spot. Bullock wound up winning the job due to his special teams play.

He played 15 games for the Bucs on special teams. Unfortunately, an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty late in the season against the Panthers forced the Bucs to start their comeback drive late in the game at their own 10-yard line and they were not able to come through. It was a bad mistake by Bullock and he was later waived by the team and picked up by the Colts. Jackson stayed with the team for a majority of the season on the practice squad and remains with Tampa Bay.

Bullock recorded 10 special teams tackles. He played collegiately at the University of Nebraska (2021-24), playing in 47 career games and compiling 126 tackles (12.5 for loss), 5.5 sacks, eight passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one interception (returned for a touchdown). Bullock earned honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition in 2024 after starting all 13 games and registering a career-high 70 tackles (10.0 for loss), six passes defensed, 4.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception.

The competition for Bullock and Jackson will be even more fierce this season. The Bucs drafted Jeremiah Trotter in the second round of the draft and signed Alex Anzalone and Christian Rozeboom this offseason. They also signed fellow Nebraska inside linebacker Javin Wright to the roster as well to compete this summer.

With SirVocea Dennis in the mix with Anzalone, Trotter and Rozeboom, it’s a stiffer competition for another linebacker spot. Bullock and Jackson will go at it again, but this time with Wright involved.
