From the Notepad

• The big story at the end of the day was starting cornerback Brent Grimes going down with an unknown injury and having to be carted off. Grimes was able to get up and walk to the cart, and after practice Koetter said that, “It was a laceration. I think he got a spike. It was kind of a nasty looking laceration. He’s going to be fine.”
• Doug Martin looked good today, better than we’ve seen him before. He even had what was probably his best run of camp, which got a smile and a dap out of his GM, Jason Licht.
• Aguayo took another slight edge in the kicking duel this morning going a perfect 5-for-5 including one form 50+ yards. Folk missed one of his 40-yard field goals, but also hit his long one form 50+.
• In Grimes’ absence, Vernon Hargreaves rotated over to the left side of the defense as the No. 1 corner and Ryan Smith filled the vacant spot on the outside on the right side.
• Ali Marpet and Donteea Dye missed another day of practice for ankle injuries, but cornerback Jude Adjei-Barimah joined them today. Adjei-Barimah was wearing a brace on his right knee, and said he won’t know the severity of his injury until tomorrow when he can test it out.
• Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had a rough day today. Fellow quarterback Ryan Griffin isn’t playing lights out, but due to Fitzpatrick’s struggles, Griffin is looking like the superior option. Both are still rotating on the second and third teams.
