After a highlight reel performance against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon, Bucs linebacker Devin White has been named the Week 7 Defensive Player of the Week.

It was White’s first career Defensive Player of the Week award, on the heels of an 11-tackle, 3-sack performance that also including the bone-jarring hit above to stop Derek Carr on 4th-and-1. White also registered two tackles-for-loss and a forced fumble.

This is White’s first Defensive Player of the Week nod, after winning Defensive Rookie of the Month awards last year in November and in December. White currently leads the Bucs in tackles (61) and tackles-for-loss (8.5), and is second on the team with four sacks.

The Bucs travel to face the New York Giants on Monday Night Football in Week 8.

Pivotal defensive play. Glad no one got hurt or penalized for unnecessary roughness. I think in this case they were both going for the sticks and Devin won the race. I think Devin did a great job of doing shoulder to shoulder clean hit/tackle out of bounds. We are after all playing football here. If you could just hit Brees like that I can die a happy man.

Plays like that can change the entire game. Absolute ROCKET of a tackle. Reminded me of a John Lynch hit.

Damn when you look at where devin and carr were starting on that hit, it was even crazier. Devin was at the 45 or 50 yard line some 20 or 30 yards away from carr when he took off. What closing speed and a beautiful hit. I was worried about a 15 yard penalty on the hit. Shows how soft the nfl has become that i worry about that.

National media is beginning to take notice of our Bucs and their players. White is a beast. He, is indeed, our next Derrick Brooks. He should be the QB in the middle of our defense for the next 7-10 years! Guy’s a baller. He will only get better…

White had an amazing game.

I commented that I thought he deserved a game ball with Brady. He was an enforcer striking like lightning shot out of a cannon!

What player were we supposed to pick instead of White?

Beat me to it Dr.D. As I recall many wanted OLB/DE Josh Allen. How’s he doing?

In the past I have read posters here rag on White saying he’s over rated and can’t cover anyone, funny how posters change their mind in a matter of 2 weeks ha

He CAN’T cover anyone! LOL There were a cpl plays in coverage this game too where he’s just not effecting the play and he also doesn’t always go to his assigned lane in the run game.. YET! And that’s what is crazy, because he can still get so much better! Right now he’s still using mostly his athletic prowess to effect games and it is definitely a net positive, big time, but when he can do what he does within 5yds of the line of scrimmage all over the field, IF he can, (and the needle is pointing up!) he… Read more »
