A favorite of the PewterReport.com staff, Bucs P Bradley Pinion has won his second NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award. The 7-year veteran bombed punt after punt against the Cowboys in Week 1, dropping three of his four punts inside the Dallas’ 10-yard line. The award is the first Pinion has collected since joining the Bucs in 2019.

“Yeah, it was huge,” Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said when asked about Pinion’s performance. “Our special teams won the ball game, there’s no doubt. Between Bradley pinning them inside the 10 three times and ‘Mick’ (Jaydon Mickens) covering. Mick had a hell of a night [in the] return game; it’s a shame we had a penalty on the punt return. But yeah, I think all those young guys – Grant [Stuard] had a tackle, they protected well. They showed up exactly in the ways we want them to. Our kickers kicked well and our returners were really, really good, but they had good blocking, too.”
The highlight for Pinion came on a 65-yard booming punt, his first of the season, that pinned Dallas at their own 2-yard line. The boot matched the longest of Pinion’s career. and came despite some pressure up the middle by the Cowboys. Pinion also boomed six kickoffs through the end zone. That’s a secret weapon for the Bucs, considering how their kick coverage teams have struggled.
The Bucs host the Falcons in Week 2 on Sunday, September 19, at 4 pm EST.
