  2. It’s always fun to see some former players as coaches. Byron Leftwich is a little bit of a surprise. I know that Byron did better under Arians at Pittsburgh; but, there’s little to indicate that he’s a offensive mastermind. But, hey, whatever the case is, Bruce found him; so, there you go!

I’m excited for what I’m hearing about Todd Bowels D; a 3-4 generalisation of the Tampa – 2. I mean even the dline is a kind of 3-4 generalisation of the 4-3. I almost hate to bring up Madden video game football, but from just playing Madden, I’ve noticed trapping O’s. I’d set a Dt to qb spy, and at the snap, if it’s a run, I’d stuff the run each time, because, if the hb goes to the side the Dt is moving towards, the dt is covering that hole. And, if the hb tries to go to the spot where the Dt left, the weakside linebacker would clean it up, because the weakside is crashing in there. Likewise, for the pass coverage. You know where the weaknesses of the cover two is; you have to set a trap. Sounds like Bowels knows this. I’m sure the original Tampa -2 guys – Ronde, Brian Kelly, John Lynch knew how to do these cover two traps; these are not new. Still; it sure sounds like Bowels has an exciting exotic 3/4 cover-2.

Likewise, good cb’s bait the qb. They make things look like they’re open to entice the Qb to throw the football somewhere. A D has to be a smart D, and not just brue strength, or all out speed. You need to able to match up physically in the NFl for sure, but as we saw with the Chargers/Ravens game, you need an intelligent D. That game is going down as one of the great classics – on par with the Bills and the Chiefs beating the big bad Ryans D Oilers back in the 1990s. And, it’s proof of beating teams with intelligence.

    • yea, the Stevie Ray Vaughan intro was kind of interesting, in light of the last few podcasts music selection; i can’t help noting they use to play a lot of blues/rock, but then when the ship was sinking, they started playing David Bowie or something like that.

I mean the Stevie Ray Vaughan intro here fit celebrating the hire of Bruce!

Hopefully, we can stick with the blues/rock theme!

  3. Also hired Denver’s o line coach to help with the o line. Idk how we got him he helped coach the broncos o line to be a top 5 unit especially in the run. I heard he’s gonna focus on the guards and center like he did in Denver while the other coach focused on the tackles. This is great news to me. I have no clue how we got him, I’m expecting a lot of changes on the o line if not new players, better play from the players we already had

  5. This podcast is one of the worst Bucs podcasts. Y’all talk over each other literally every podcast and seriously can you leave the advertisements for the end of the podcast or in the beginning. So annoying trying to get info from this podcast only to be interrupted to hear about a stupid TA mahoneys advertisement. So frustrating.
