  2. To Scott’s much repeated point that this was over two years ago:

This groping incident occured March 13th 2016.

Jameis Winston was drafted number 1 overall April 30, 2015 in which it was well known he had gone through a lengthy rape investigation.

Less than 11 months after being taken number one overall and all of those hours of Inspector Clouseau Jason Licht investigating his character and the team was rewarded by another incident that was related to sexual assault.

The only reason we know about this incident is because someone had to go out and report it. You can imagine a lot of people who have had bad incidents happen to them never go to the police and certainly don’t go to the press and risk personal animus in the process.

I wouldn’t bet my home that there haven’t been any other incidents between Jameis and woman over the past few years just because no other ones have hit the press.

    To Mark Cook’s question:

Lack of consent is the crucial component of sex crimes. Sexual conduct becomes criminal when sexual touch is not consented to, either because the offender forces another person to be sexual against his or her will, or because the other person is considered incapable of consent or to have diminished mental capacity to consent.

    https://www.criminaldefenselawyer.com/crime-penalties/federal/sexual-battery.htm

I’ve had my own experiences with drinking to the point I didn’t recall parts of a night. If someone has ever told me I did something during those times I tend to believe them. Why on Earth would you admit you don’t recall all of what happened the night before but simultaneously deny what someone tells you happened? That doesn’t make a ton of sense.

    • To avoid getting railroaded over what would be a minor who cares infraction in any time but over sensitive 2018.

      • If you think touching other peoples genital areas without their consent is a “minor who cares infraction” that says a lot more about you than it does society.

If you think multiple allegations of sexual assault and battery and one alibi that went up in flames only months after turning 22 is “getting railroaded”, again, I would say this is less about society and more about you.

If there is a discussion about touching people inappropriately and you find yourself minimizing that, maybe you should consider how you got to that point.

        • Please – give it a rest I never said I condone doing that, but if she was flirting with him if his hand “Grazed” her original words – not Groped her there, no I don’t call that assault. And either would a court. Especially when he backed off when asked at her request.

That’s IF you believe Her which I don’t. No proof, evidence etc.

So he misread. Backed off and gets railroaded

And you condone that? It says alot more about you than it does society that you want a hypersensitive believe system where anyone without evidence is railroading someone.

          • If Jameis was so drunk that his friends had to call an uber for him to take him home you think a stone cold sober person who is at work driving for a living is going to see this very intoxicated guy and go flirt with him? That’s one hell of an assumption there. Did you read anything about her allegedly flirting with him or did you just make that up?

You are the one who said it was a “minor who cares infraction” not me. That’s your attempt to minimize the situation not mine. The gold digger part is just the cherry on top. I wouldn’t attempt to get into law if I were you, I don’t think you’d have a long career as a defense attorney.

          • To DEVASHER:

In response to your last comment

He was soooo drunk per your last comment

Would this ‘Stone cold sober’ Driver who is working for a living let him in the Front seat?
Who lets anyone ride in the front seat ? Especially a drunk young FB player?
            Her story sounds like BS.

I call it a minor incident because if she could file charges she likely would have, she likely went to a lawyer and he said – this won’t pass the mustard.

She’s a GOLDDIGGER sould the story to Buzzfeed and got a civil lawyer in FLORIDA to get MONEY. Its clear as day.

          • Who “lets anyone ride in the front seat ?”

Have you ever actually taken an Uber before MrThrityTwo? I have sat in the front seat several times. Probably more times than I’ve sat in the back seat. For one, I find it awkward sitting in the back and if I want to chat with the driver or see the area I’d do that from the front. It’s a person’s car not a freaking cab so there’s no barrier between front and back seat.

But keep making assumptions about things based on how you feel MrThrirtTwo. I appreciate you explaining your logic to me so I can understand why it’s so skewed. Thank you.

  3. This was pathetic. P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C.

Whether SR/MC/TS realised it or not, they spent the entire time defending Winston: “Does he even remember what happened?”, “We’ve all done stupid things when drunk”, “It was two years ago”… The worst was when Mark started talking about how he has sisters. No offense, but that’s what every idiot says. We all have mothers and even the worst rapist uses that as a defense. I don’t mean that as hyperbole, I mean that literally. That’s why racists say “I have a black friend”.

I’d encourage you, particularly Mark and Scott, to self-reflect. I’m not a SJW, I don’t expect perfection from public figures (whether yourselves or Jameis), I’m not virtue-signalling. But this latest podcast was entirely spent defending Jameis. Yes, you prefaced every comment with “I’m not defending Jameis, but..” It’s the old “I’m not racist, BUT…”

Mark LITERALLY says he believes Winston won’t do this again, I’m sorry, are you an idiot? The guy did this 11 months REMOVED FROM A HUGE RAPE INVESTIGATION. Mark, and PR, have zero evidence for this claim and yet this is the tack they take? “He’s a different person now.”

Jameis has admitted guilt (technically “he doesn’t remember) in sexually assaulting a woman. The person who had already “learned” from his previous incidents did this. The whole “If he wasn’t a good guy, we wouldn’t have used the first pick on him.”

And PR spends their time arguing how understandable this is, how much Winston has changed. If you think I’m mis-characterising it, please listen again to the first half of this podcast.

I think this is the worst thing Pewter Report has ever put out.

  4. Love Pewter Report and all you guys Mark, Scott and Trevor so forgive my rant, it’s not focused at any one of yalls opinions I’m just pissed at Winston.

Yeah, I mean, I’m happy he was clean for 2 years and 3 months(Jameis says 2-1/2 but he’s wrong, AGAIN)and I was kind of riding that for a while until the dumbass basically recanted EVERYTHING he said in his attempt to make the Uber driver look like a liar in his initial “I’m being falsely accused speech”. Well Americas crotch grabber now apologizes to the Uber driver for his(uncharacteristic?)behavior, LOL!!! What an idiot! I mean who is on your PR team you dipsh!t Moe, Larry and Curly!? Uncharacteristic my arse, Winston IS a character but sure hell doesn’t have any character. He is probably one of the best sweet talkers and schmoozers around at face value and when he needs to be in the charitable public eye he’s ON but that’s not hard to do, come on. He’s clean 2+ years but boy he carried that incident and that lie for the same amount of time. Now shouldn’t that mean just as much? He knew what he was doing by going crazy with his charity work too. I even said he might get a WP man of the year nod if he has a winning season because of all that work and if he only receives a fine. I bet you anything he has done just as much if not more charity in the last 2 years than anyone else in the league. Sure you can say its because he wants to, I don’t 100% disbelieve that but I guarantee you it was also a “break glass in case of emergency” move too. So people need to stop with the 2 years clean crap, it doesn’t really hold water when you truly dissect the whole story.

Side note, the yahoos at Joe Bucs Fan keep calling JW “Americas QB” even now. Please for the love of all that’s holy Mark, Scott or Trevor give me your opinion on this. I understand you might not wanna roll on a fellow journalist but isn’t journalism(besides getting the truth out to the public) about being real with everyone? You never know what side of their mouth they’re going to talk out of either. Only guy I respect there is IRA now. Lee’s shoving beer and hot dogs down his throat all day while Izbit iz just, well I dont know, a twerp? Whatever, this whole thing has me pissed off. Thanks for the forum, sorry and not sorry about the rant.

  5. People do change. People become sober, grow up. I’m hoping Jameis has done both, time will tell. If Winston is ever released by the Bucs it won’t be because of this incident. It’ll be do to his play, or another crutch grab, time to put this behind us, and move on.

    • It’s funny hearing all the talk of Jameis as a changed man. I seem to recall this same exact talk back in 2015, a lot of good words spoken and about being a leader, model for the community. Here we are, things haven’t quite changed have they?

And if we want to take the angle that Jameis has grown up, why not report the uber incident in the first place, why lie about your alibi and make the NFL complete a 9 month investigation proving you wrong before you meekly apologize to the person who you dismissed for the first 9 months?

Doesn’t sound like a grownup to me.

        • Well MrThrityTwo, I’ve never once been accused of rape. I promise. I’ve never drunkenly grabbed at an uber drivers crotch. If someone told me after a night of drinking that I did it, and I didn’t remember it, I would apologize and not lie about it and try to bring my friends into my defense.

Believe me, I partied a lot at FSU, went to some of the same places Jameis did (Potbelly’s for one), I even knew some people who allegedly knew him (and heard stories of his drinking). Just because I drank occasionally to excess doesn’t mean anyone went to the hospital over me.

          • And JW hasn’t been accused of Rape by a Non-GoldDigger

Congrats you and JW have that in common.

If you did grab at an Uber driver without knowing you would apologize? Oh good for you. Would you lose your job? Be publically stained? Possibly go to jail?

You’re no diff than JW but you miss that point, only diff is no one cares enough about you, cause you aren’t a #1 draft pick, to try to rip you off like these golddiggers.

  10. I don’t think the Pewter Report gang is making excuses for Jameis. In my view they are merely pointing out the realities of life. People do conduct themselves differently than if they were sober. Then the drunks get together and feed off of each others’ bizarre behavior. They start believing they are tougher, smarter, funnier, handsomer and a better lover than reality. As a non-drinker, those otherwise respectable folks look really stupid when viewed by a person who still has his wits. Me, I always liked comforting the girls whose boyfriends were acting like idiots and in the corner puking. I’ve also heard girls make the excuse, “But I was drunk” when allowing herself to permit sexual advances when if sober would have rejected them. Any guy who takes advantage of that situation has questionable character issues just as much as the drunk making the advance.

We should all hope Jameis the man truly recognizes the part alcohol has already played in his young life and takes steps to “eliminate” it as he stated he has done. Many folks never do and end up doing far more harm to others than this incident. That’s reality.
