Bucs Pewter Report Podcast Episode 217: Who’s To Blame For This Bucs’ Loss?

17

PewterReport.com presents the Pewter Report Podcast, a weekly audio hour of news, analysis and inside scoop on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers delivered with a dose of humor and insight from Bucs beat writers Scott Reynolds, Mark Cook, Taylor Jenkins, Jon Ledyard and Matt Matera, who also serves as the show’s producer. Look for the Pewter Nation Podcast each week on PewterReport.com for your listening pleasure during the 2020 season.

This was a frustrating loss for the Bucs on Thursday night, dropping the game to the Bears by a score of 20-19. As we recap the game on the Pewter Report Podcast, there’s blame to go around, and who should get it?

It was an egregious game by the referees, but the Bucs still should have overcame that. What’s tough to overcome is when you commit 11 penalties for 109 yards. There’s arguments to be made for Todd Bowles, Byron Leftwich, Tom Brady and more. Then of course there was a devastating injury to Vita Vea, who’s season will most likely be over. Who will step up now?

You can hear that discussion, who each member of the show gives the blame to, and what players are receiving game balls on this new episode of the Pewter Report Podcast.

Putting this game aside, the fool who has spent a total of one first round draft pick on OL and one on DL over the course of six years is to blame for our lack of quality depth on the lines, which undermines every skill players ability to contribute. Ask TB and our RBs for instance, or our DBs. It has also left us renting older expensive players on the lines who, while they may have (had?) some gas left in the tank were deemed not worth the $ to keep by their former teams. That’s not how you get… Read more »

I have always hated the idea of Thursday night football for the reasons stated by Scott. It is unfair for every team involved. Greed overruled commons sense for that decision.

I agree fellow SS. Maybe NFL should limit Thursday games to teams coming off a bye week.

Go Bucs!

Thursday night games suck. It would be interesting to know how many injuries league wide happen on Thursday night. I hope Vea makes a great recovery.

In addition to poor coaching, almost looked like some of the Buc went out of gas starting 3rd quarter. Most obvious were Donavan Smith on the left so did Gronkowski.

WHY!!!!! Don’t you all allow comments on your “New” YouTube video?

You guys have always had good insight, I miss the days of the magazine.

But, WHO continues to rebuild this WordPress site and how much money are you over-paying that developer while asking for donations on Podcasts?

WHY can’t y’all hold on to additional talent and build the PR brand?

Sometimes you all make the JBF crew look like geniuses.

Good lord!

Jason Licht. Start drafting offensive lineman like we do defensive backs. And the same goes for the Defensive line. Bucs are exactly where I thought they would be by game 5. Better, but not playoff material. Losing Vea is going to be tough. Stop wasting money on expensive old TEs that are under performing, and really old QB’s who forget what down it is.

I just did not understand at all why Bowles had the secondary in soft coverage for such a large part of the game. That’s the shit that drove all of us fans insane 2 years ago, and Chicago took advantage all night long!

No one is to blame. Nick Foles and the Bears were just better than Brady’s Bucs Thursday night.

Tompa Brady can rebound next week by beating the Packers at home.

I’ve got my popcorn ready.

The Bucs are going to get pounded by the Packers. I bet this team quits after that.

Wow your a real Bucs fan aren’t you. Jackass. Best team packers have beat was 2-2 Saints. 37-30 not exactly blowout either. Other 3 teams they they beat sucked. So Bucs can and should beat Packers. Yeah Bucs will quit if they lose and are 3-3? Your a total dumbass.

Right just because someone doesn’t kiss his favorite teams ass and actually sees the faults in his team doesn’t make them a dumbass like you michalmyers. So let me get this straight you believe the Bucs who got beat worse than the box score showed can and will beat a team who has one of the best qb’s of all time, who is as hot as any team in the NFL with a offense that averages 38 POINTS PER GAME the most in the NFL? I highly doubt the Bucs beat the Packers and I honestly don’t know if they… Read more »

I think the game reflected the box score. Bears offense made a couple of plays the Bucs offense did not and that was the game. As for GB I am predicting a loss as well but they will get Godwin back and be rested up. So who knows. I’m not predicting a win but I don’t think it’s impossible by any stretch.

There are 100’s of things or more we can blame. Bottom line they stunk. O line was pathetic. Bucs fans and Brady finding out not so easy to play QB well when your getting drilled by 300 pound guys constantly. Damn that Winston! Lol. At least Brady has Fg kicker (maybe don’t want to jinx it lol) and defense that’s playing well. O line is better than anything Winston had for 5 years too. At least they can run decent and had 100 yard rusher finally. Jones looked great. Bucs aren’t a consistent team in many ways. Defense still has… Read more »

Who have the bucs beat besides the 2-2 panthers? Not to mention that the Packers average 38 points per game, have the hottest offense in the nfl, the hottest qb in the nfl, and one of the best rb’s who can catch and run all this while running a scheme that gets guys open early in their routes, uses pick routes better than any other team in the NFL and has a play caller who knows what he is doing unlike the Bucs. I am sorry but the only way the Bucs beat the packers is if Rodgers misses the… Read more »

Here it is..Straight up no chaser like this Crown Royal I’m sippin on. Look, we witnessed what a top 5 Defense can bring. Them Bears were rated at #4 on D for a reason. Buc fans are so..goggly-eyed with the statue of Liberty Goat Brady( can’t run if his life depended on it) But a great defense gives him nightmares. You saw that on Thursday. Our D is not there yet. Especially the secondary. Hope we got a great stand in for Vita. Cause them Packers are gonna attack our secondary like Dracula on a thirsty night. Now..back to me… Read more »
