After releasing Vernon Hargreaves earlier on Tuesday, the Bucs have promoted rookie cornerback Mazzi Wilkins to the 53-man roster, per Greg Auman.

Wilkins, a Tampa native who played his high school football at Plant and college football at USF, signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent. He had an impressive training camp and preseason that earned him a spot on the practice squad when the season started.

Licht is thanking his lucky stars Ryan Smith is still on the team, the lone survivor from the 2016 draft!

NOT! Look, I’ve always liked Smith as a solid 4th rounder, great special teams player and decent CB fill-in-off-the-bench-in-a-pinch. But good lord, how do you miss on all those picks.

I’m glad Licht and Arians decided to keep Wilkins. He had a rock-solid preseason.

Yes another one of Licht’s slow footed CB’s. This guy ran an average time of 4.72 in either the combine of Pro Day. 4.27! My god, this guy will look like a statue in the pro game.

You contradict yourself. Is it 4.72 or 4.27?

Maxi should get some opportunities and hopefully he’s ready. We’re all looking forward to watching (and media looking forward to covering) the future success stories of this secondary! It’s been a long time. Hope they realize we’re cheering for their success!

Here’s hoping u knock it out of the park Mazzi Wilkins! Sometimes a kid just needs an opportunity. He’s a USF kid so can he be the next hometown hero. At least this kid will give u his full complete effort. He’s youngry! We’ll see. Go Bucs!

Yes 4.27 is very fast. Not sure what the hell your talking about Dr. D. 4.72 is more what o lineman run. Lol. Arians and Bowles are finding the pieces for this secondary. They will get it right and quickly it just going to take more than half of season 1 which we as fans don’t like. In reality it’s highly unusual to come in change everything year 1 and it all works perfect. There are couple pieces still needed here we all know Dotson isn’t playing well at RT and 34. If Dean gets time Now and excels second… Read more »

Sadly, Drd’s initial number is correct-he ran a 4.72 at the combine.
