The Bucs made some roster moves on Thursday afternoon as they placed inside linebacker Christian Rozeboom on injured reserve due to a finger injury and activated wide receiver David Sills V off of it. Sills had the 21-day window opened for him recently and he may have to contribute right away for Tampa Bay.

Rozeboom turned out to be a key depth piece for the Bucs at inside linebacker. He helped fill in when Josiah Trotter missed time earlier in the season and also was implemented more last week as Tampa Bay ran some 4-3 defensive fronts. Rozeboom excelled in the game, recording a pass breakup and helping on special teams.

That leaves Trotter and veteran Alex Anzalone starting with SirVocea Dennis as the primary backup at inside linebacker. It’s likely that rookie undrafted free agent Caden Fordham will be elevated for the game once again.

Bucs May Need Help At Wide Receiver

It’s pretty good timing that Sills will be available for his season debut on Sunday as he comes back from a knee injury. With starter Emeka Egbuka missing all of practice thus far with a a foot injury and having a concussion, it doesn’t appear that he’s going to be ready for Sunday’s game at Carolina. That puts the Bucs in a tough spot for an important matchup.

Sills provides a lot of good size for Tampa Bay. They’ll look at Chris Godwin Jr. as the top receiver on the team, the second spot is up for grabs between Ted Hurst III and Tez Johnson. Tampa Bay wouldn’t have Sills as the second receiver right away, but it wouldn’t be a shock if he got some reps, either.

Tampa Bay has seen some injuries to their receiver room. Jalen McMillan is on injured reserve, and who knows how long Egbuka could be out for. This is a big opportunity for Sills in a game for the Bucs that is of very high importance.
