According to the report, the accident was considered “minor” and took place about 3 miles south of One Buc Place at Azeele and Habana in Tampa. Per the police report, the accident was not Martin’s fault and was a result of someone else running a stop sign to hit his car. The report says Martin received, “minor cuts and bruises” from the crash.
Buccaneers general manager, Jason Licht, released a statement about the accident later that day.
“Doug was the unfortunate victim in an auto accident earlier today after leaving our team facility. While Doug’s vehicle sustained a large amount of damage, we are pleased to report that he received only minor cuts and bruises. He has been evaluated by our medical staff and has headed home.”
More information, including a statement from Martin or anyone else with the Buccaneers will be posted when known.
I’m glad he’s okay!
Hey Doug!
Don’t turn this into your insurance under a PIP claim. Even with your salary you will feel the pinch on the rerate in Tampa. Glad you are ok!
The man just can’t get a break… I hope that karma comes back to him this year.
There is no such thing as “karma.” It is a concept of Hinduism and Buddhism. But there is the truth that “you reap what you sow.” Doug will get a break when he starts doing the right things to create such situations. Although I would hardly call a fender bender a tough break.
Good to know he’s ready for contact. :)
Kidding. Really happy to hear Doug is alright.
So much for making the first guy miss…..
Very glad he is ok.
According to some of his detractors way of thinking though, if he had been injured, it would have been another example of Martin’s inability to stay healthy.
Once again Doug, glad you are okay.
Bet the person who hit him is running around bragging about his/her big hit on Doug Martin.
I bet they were old. Old people love to run stop signs. I live in Arizona and see it all the time (in winter).
It isn’t that old people like to run stop signs, they just do’t see them.
Young people do see them but don’t think it applies to them personally.
