Bucs have started the process of cutting their roster from 91 players to 53 by cutting undrafted rookie QB Austin Allen of Arkansas. He could come back as 3rd QB on practice squad while Jameis Winston is suspended.

I've confirmed that the Bucs have waived defensive end Patrick O'Connor, as first reported by @GregAuman. Another potential practice squad candidate after playing in three regular season games for them last year.

— Rick Stroud (@NFLSTROUD) September 1, 2018
No surprise so far but Bazata played hard in last nights game.
If I see Shaun Wilson’s name on this list I’m gonna lose my sh*t! I’m 110% sure the man earned his roster spot last night showing great value at both RB and in the return game. I’d like to see Bobo stick as well, but with the depth we have a WR it may be hard to justify.
The regular season is almost upon us fellow Bucs fans!
Have no fear plopes, Shaun Wilson made the roster without a doubt.
Absolutely! Wilson > Jones
Wouldn’t go that far bud. Just wait and see what Ronald Jones can do with the 1st team reps he gets when the lights come on and the games matter.
He is going to surprise a lot of people mark my words. But Wilson earned a spot no doubt about that.
I hope you’re right! However, based off what he’s shown these past preseason games working with the 1s 2s and 3s. Wilson has outplayed him period.
Couldn’t help but notice Bullough’s photo in the caption for this article. I’m really hoping he makes the 53 over Ciche even though he’s got a mild injury.
Won’t happen. Alex Cichy outplayed Joe Dirt, and has both better instincts and athleticism.
Haha I really wish he didn’t cut his hair!
Bullough has already been on the roster a year–not worth wasting another year–let us give Cichy a chance and see what he can do. Bullough has shown us all what he is capable of.
Ameer Abdullah [Lions] is rumored to be on the trading block. He’s a proven pro, young, out of Nebraska. Mario Edwards [DE] looks like he may be available as well. The two positions are holes we need to fill. I hope Licht is ready to deal.
I don’t think we need more defensive ends at this point. Also, Ameer Abdullah is not proven, that’s why he’s on the trading block; he has not met expectations by a lot.
QB Allen, hope to never see him in a Buccaneer uniform again!
Just coming out alive is a win for a fourth string QB in preseason. The odds are that he is not the next Kurt Warner. But, the odds were that Kurt Warner was not the next Kurt Warner. I will settle for hoping not to see him in some other uniform some day beating the Bucs.
I think we’ll keep six receivers this season, which would be good. Injuries can de-rail plans in a heart beat. For the sixth spot I’d like to see Bobo, since he played with Jameis at FSU and they already have chemistry(sorry Freddie Martino).
Don’t see them keeping 6 WR’s.
Jones is going to be fine when he plays with first string O line that can actually block someone.
I like Riley a lot, but he’s just not that good.
I truly hope RojoII does turn it on in the regular season. Wilson ran behind the same lines that Rojo did!! Does anyone know how I can change my log in name?
I t is still early, but it looks like Cichy and Justin Evans may turn out to be real steals. It is looking good so far. That may not mean the end of the road for Riley or Bobo or Martino. As people get dinged up, they may be back if they do not make it now.
Auman was wrong. Cichy also had a sack last night on a busted play by the Jags. Good one too. Kept playing till the whistle while most everyone stood around. I watched the All 22 on replay just a few minutes ago and overall I would say Jones had a good game and had positive yards even though he was hit behind the line several times. When he wasn’t, he picked up four or five yards. He also picked up some blitzes in pass protection. In other words, give the poor kid a break. I think he is only 20… Read more »
Your observations of RoJo and mine are the same. There were times against the Jags when he did well just to get back to the line of scrimmage. We all remember the great Barry Sanders and the #47 jock strap he has in his trophy case. He would get stuffed time after time then pop one for 80 yards. I’m not suggesting Jones is going to be Barry Sanders, just noting that at some point he’ll take one to the house and those folks calling him a “bust” already will be cheering the loudest.
Wow Keith Tandy getting cut… Did not expect that to happen LOL. I wonder who we’ll keep in his place.
I hope Tandy can go to a playoff team that can understand how smart a player he is. Good luck young Man.
He made too many plays come game day. Guess he’s not a fit for Smitty’s scheme. At least show some respect and cut Joe Dirt first.
And Khalil Mack just got traded to Chicago. Week 4 just got a WHOLE lot more harrowing.
Not surprised at all that Tandy was released.
Cutting Josh Robinson, while not a surprise, means to me that Ryan Smith is our primary special teams gunner and reserve CB – and here’s the stretch – and maybe gives us the room on special teams to keep Bobo. I’d like to keep him to give him time to develop. We put him on the practice squad and he’ll get snatched up. Clock’s ticking….
Tandy and Robinson cut. WTF?!
I’m hearing D. Bond is going on I.R. instead of being cut. Got to admit he’s made a good living doing nothing but being injured. Think Licht is giving his draft choices more room then they deserve. I imagine he won’t give up on N. Spence either, the designated pass rusher who can’t get to the Q.B. against 3rd teamers lol. Tandy, and Robinson going I hope means they’re going to look for safety help. Who we have left won’t cut it. I for one never looked at our week four with the Bears as a win, that game just… Read more »
Robinson is an incredible special teams player, but can’t seem to do anything else, and was too often injured. I’m kind of sad to see Tandy go. It seems the few times they put him on the field in real games – he made play – they just didn’t put him out there much. I really don’t know if they gave him a fair shake. If Tandy is indeed getting cut, I think it means that Isaiah Johnson is making the roster. Johnson played fairly well the last 2 preseason games. There were plays where I noticed him.
I REALLY do not understand D.Bond situation.
Hearing that Bobo Wilson just got released
I can understand if the staff is high on I. Johnson and Whitehead at safety. But the Bucs struggled with return coverage on special teams and two of the best special teamers were cut (Tandy and Robinson).
Robinson was capable of playing boundary CB, nickel CB, and safety while Tandy was a CB in college and was a FS/SS in the pros.
Unless the Bucs pick up a waiver wire pickup I am in the undecided territory with all of this.
Agree!
Not sure why they cut Tandy. Lot guys here don’t like him but he’s always been a ballhawk and made lot plays. He’s going to start somewhere eventually I bet. He’s at the least a very solid back up.
Letting Tandy go is insane! He was the Captain of our Special Teams and every time he was called upon to replace a starting Safety throughout his career he excelled because he always prepared for every game and was an example to our younger players to always study film and be prepared if your number is called. He will be picked up immediately and I hope it is not by our Division opponent’s. Koetter makes the cuts and this was a dumb mistake with his neck on the line!
Scubog I couldn’t agree more. With Jones speed just matter of time before he actually gets a hole in front of him and hits that second level and he’s gone. Yes He needs to improve and I think he will, but man I just don’t get people acting like he’s a bust with almost no time running behind first string line and offense.
Still no big surprises for me yet. If Spence stays that will be my big surprise.
Dallas just cut Kicker Bailey. He would be a great add for the Bucs and instant upgrade at the kicking position.
Fredster, you really don’t understand why so many people want to call Jones a bust in the preseason running behind the second and third string line? Because they are Bucs fans, that’s why. OF course they have been prodded along by a media who saw a couple of backs make a quick splash and felt they were ready for the HOF, but they are still Bucs fans. Surferdudes, I agree with you when you say the team is will to give their draft picks a little more time to develop but that is because they have a vested interest in… Read more »
