The offseason may be new, but the news keeps coming – unfortunately, in this case.
On Wednesday morning, Buccaneers safety T.J. Ward was arrested and jailed on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on previous (and unreported) charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested at his apartment, per the report.
Ward was released later that morning after posting a bond of $2,500.
A misdemeanor drug incident is one thing, but when you’re a pending free agent and on the second day of you being out of the locker room you get arrested for a felony, that’s not a good look.
Ward was 11th on the team with 30 tackles this season. He didn’t make the splash impact many thought he might when he was signed after being released by the Broncos before the season began. It took him longer than expected to crack the starting lineup, for whatever reason that may have been.
Combo this recent news with a subpar performance this season and it’s unlikely that Ward will return to Tampa Bay in 2018.
