The offseason may be new, but the news keeps coming – unfortunately, in this case.

On Wednesday morning, Buccaneers safety T.J. Ward was arrested and jailed on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on previous (and unreported) charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested at his apartment, per the report.

Ward was released later that morning after posting a bond of $2,500.

A misdemeanor drug incident is one thing, but when you’re a pending free agent and on the second day of you being out of the locker room you get arrested for a felony, that’s not a good look.

Ward was 11th on the team with 30 tackles this season. He didn’t make the splash impact many thought he might when he was signed after being released by the Broncos before the season began. It took him longer than expected to crack the starting lineup, for whatever reason that may have been.

Combo this recent news with a subpar performance this season and it’s unlikely that Ward will return to Tampa Bay in 2018.

Who would have thought going into this season that one well paid Buccaneer’s car was left after hitting a tree with drugs in the car, and another was arrested for for failure to appear in court due to drug possession and none of them were named Doug Martin. DeSean Jackson 12.5 million TJ Ward 4.6 million Doug Martin 7.7 million (minus 3 game suspension) You would almost think Jason Licht has a red-eye for talent. I’m sure the Glazers feel that the 20+ million investment this year toward the above players was very well spent for not just great, productive… Read more »

I believe Ward was going to be let go anyway. I don’t do pot, but nowadays I don’t even know why officers are wasting their time arresting people for this. I bet it’s selective as to who they actually arrest for things like this.

I am confident alcohol related accidents will kill far more people than marijuana related accidents will, but to say people using marijuana while driving is not a problem is not factually accurate. Below is an excerpt of an article regarding this subject: Blake Gaston, 23, killed while riding his motorcycle in Seattle. He played the piano, guitar, drums, wrote music, and developed websites. Elizabeth Kemble, 46, was killed by a car while walking across the street in Portland, Ore. She previously survived three kidney transplants, and dedicated her life to helping dialysis patients and hungry seniors. Debra Majkut, 34, mother of two, killed… Read more »

Buc, I think T.J. would prefer to say it in simple terms….instead of Hush, he would like to replace it with “Kush” and wanted to add that the H was silent anyway….

Horse, are you saying there is racial profiling going on?
I am 60 years old, do you think I will see legalized weed in our state?
What BS that cops are still enforcing this. Yes I believe that T.J. should have been more discrete, but c’mon man, don’t be a dumbass.
See you later alligator.

You’re probably the same guy who’s complaining where is the police when we really need them. I would prefer their budget goes for fighting violent crimes, hard drugs, fraud and embezzlement.

As I have never needed the help of the police you might be right. I also agree that the cops should exert their effort on the real bad dudes.
All I know is this, I have never seen a fight at a pot party. I have seen tears though, usually when we run out of Oreos.

Got it. I agree it’s a waste of time; just my opinion. I have had very good responses from the police when called. Unfortunately when you have rental property no matter how much you screen the tenants, some bad apples always get thru and cause criminal problems.

I’ve owned over 20 rentals in my life. Not once have they left it where did not have to paint it. NOT ONCE. I can’t get around that.

I don’t care about the charge, I do care about the fact that Ward played terribly this year. Get rid of him.

Sigh ….. it’s going to be a very very very very very very very long offseason, with stories like this to be the highlight until we get to opening of free agency and then later the draft. And then yet another pre-season where all kinds of progoistications and predictions and chin-pulling and arguing, and then, the same old same old regime of Licht-Koetter are very likely to produce yet another year of Bucs mediocrity. I wish I could be more optimistic, but settling for continued mediocrity by making litterally NO CHANGES WHATSOEVER in the vain hope of producing a better… Read more »

Ward is another great Bucs free agent pick-up. At least we didn’t overspend on this one like we did with Nicks. Licht is the best GM the Saints, Panthers and Falcons could have ever hoped the Bucs had.
