Jason Pierre-Paul has been fined $15,000 by the NFL for a hit on Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, according to Tom Pelissero.

The hit made by the Bucs’ outside linebacker occurred in the fourth quarter of Tampa Bay’s 46-23 win last Sunday at Carolina when Pierre-Paul tackled Bridgewater around the knees for the sack. Pierre-Paul was not penalized on the play.

Bridgewater came up limping in pain after the play and did not return with the game out of reach late in the fourth quarter as backup quarterback P.J. Walker came in to replace him. Bridgewater will be a game-time decision on Sunday in the Panthers game against the Lions at home.

This is the first time that Pierre-Paul has been fined this season. He leads the Bucs with 7.5 sacks on the year, putting him tied for sixth in the NFL and just two sacks behind the league lead.

That was not a cheap shot, and that was not what the Brady rule was intended for. He hit Teddy Bear above the knee, then slid down below the knee. It’s called gravity. Also Teddy was moving in the pocket, which makes him a runner. There was no flag on the play.

It seems the league has somewhat figured out what is a catch and replaced it with the question, what is a roughing the passer?, followed by what is pass interference?. Vince Lombardi had it right when he queried, “What’s going on out there?”

If you put quotes around it it needs to be a quote: “What the hell is going on out here?!?”

That’s so stupid. He didn’t fly into his legs, he shed a block and lunges back and grabbed him. That’s ridiculous.

This is garbage. The announcers highlighted this. Wasn’t it Moose Johnston? They showed replay of Pierre-Paul hitting him on the thigh and slid down his leg. He did not him him low!
