Newly retired cornerback DeAngelo Hall has seen plenty of football players over his 14 year career. Transitioning into an analyst role now, Hall made an appearance on Good Morning Footbal and had some high praise for the Bucs.

Along with picking the Bucs to be the most improved team in the NFC South because of Bruce Arians, Hall is optimistic for the Bucs defense as well, and gave a ringing endorsement to the Bucs first round pick, linebacker Devin White.

Hall went as far as to compare White to Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis for the type of style that both linebackers play.

“He runs all over the field,” Hall said. “He’s a Ray Lewis type of player. He’s a perennial, all-pro type of player. I’m telling you, he can go.”

  1. Have to win the 1st game. Need to play good in the pre-season for a change and build momentum into the opener. Too many losing seasons to get excited about stuff like this.

  2. LMAO!!!!! The guy hasn’t put on pads yet or played in one game!!!!

A few weeks ago PR published article on White being the favorite for defensive rookie of the year, and then a pro-bowler. Guess it was just a matter of time until he’s being projected as a Hall of Famer!!!!

  3. I concur Dman. Before we enshrine him in the Hall of Fame, let see him play some games under real fire. Quit trying to jinx the poor kid.

  4. This is the off-season and the time when every team can have high hopes and dreams for their team and players. With that said, it’s not hard to compare guys coming out of college to great NFL players and how they were coming out of college then come up with ideas of how they might play in the NFL. It’s not perfect science, but at least it can give you something positive to look forward to. I like how PR promotes young talent with high hopes early on. There’s nothing wrong with it in my opinion and any genuine Bucs fan should be enjoying it with the same hopeful outlook. In the end, it’s all entertainment, and if your not enjoying it, why bother reading it?

Man, for a team fan site there sure is a lot of “Negative Nancy’s” posting here. Hopefully some winning this year might change the culture around here a bit. But somehow I have a feeling that won’t even help everyone.

  5. Call me Pollyannish, but comments from a former 14-year professional football player mean more than the negative naybobs of negativity commenting on this story. Sorry guys, but I’m sick of the negativity.

Could the Bucs and White fall flat on their face this season? Sure, it’s possible. Anything is possible. That said, I hear and see a change in culture occurring this offseason which I’ve not seen since Gruden took over from Dungy in 2002. We’ve released a guy who, while being a good DT, was probably going to be a hindrance in changing this team’s culture of losing and replaced him with a guy who has a similar skill set but an entirely different (winning) mindset. We’ve added more fresh talent to the DBs, who are being coached by the same guy who coached the fantastic DB squad in AZ under Arians. We have plenty of talent on this team to win.

We have a question mark or two with the OL, but we may yet find the last piece needed for the OL to become a really solid group during training camp, or off waivers anytime between now and game 1. If we had a decent field goal kicker the first half of last season, and a middle-of-the-road defense, we would have had a winning record last season and Koetter would have kept his job. In a way, Koetter’s stubbornness and loyalty towards Mike Smith was probably a blessing in disguise for the Bucs’ long term prospects.

  6. We complain when the main street media ignores us, then when someone has something nice to say we don’t embrace it? I’ve been watching some LSU games on SEC network. I think Hall’s right, he’s special. He’s made some good plays in key moments. However he isn’t Superman. I’ve seen him miss some tackles, take bad angles, and yes Bob there were times when a guard would block him completely out of a play. It’s the SEC, guys on the other side are good too. Still, he was the right pick for the Bucs at this time. I think when the 2019 season is all said, and done, D.White will make us proud. He should be the cornerstone, leader of this defense for years to come.

  7. The kid has serious talent and is going to be very good. How good who knows. Pro bowls and HOF talk now is kind of dumb to me.

Ray Lewis has bad games, missed tackles, and was blocked by o lineman before too. Nobody is Superman or all highlight real tape. You can find bad plays on anyone period.

  8. We need to lighten up on the White is a Hall of Famer talk. I remember a few #1 flops in Buc History. Keith McCants comes to mind. Let’s see him in action. Not in Camp. On the field against Teams. Give him a few games before we crown him the next Derrick Brooks.

  9. I was once compared to Brad Pitt by an officer as he viewed my drivers license on a traffic stop. Trust me, I didn’t turn out to be Brad Pitt but it sure sounded nice when explaining my speeding ticket to my wife.

    Ray-Ray is Ray-Ray.
    Devin is gonna be Devin.

  10. Ray-Ray is Ray-Ray
    Devin is Devin
..but the Brad Pitt the cop was talking about is a different Brad Pitt. 57 year old former security guard who is 5-5, 246 pounds and lost his job because he could no longer patrol the circumference of the building.

  12. And I know Brad the Security Guard, his fitness May have gained weight but it was because he had a Thyroid problem, but he visits his Mom every Sunday and volunteers at the Thanksgiving Food Drive every year, so just because he doesn’t look like “The Brad Pitt” doesn’t make him any less of a decent guy…

  14. Yeah the link takes me to an NFL Top 100 debate video that lasts about one minute.

Who the heck is your web admin? WordPress? Really?

I mean come on… you guys are just letting J** B*** F** dominate the market with thier MO of elaborating on other sites posts.

Now PR is doing the same thing with less elaborating and back-links that don’t function properly.

    What the heck guys?

I mean is this a full time gig? Four very short paragraphs and a link to nowhere?

Love the FAB5 and the podcasts (hate SoundCloud) but there’s a hungry audience out there and someone is eventually going to capture it and put a beating on everyone currently “credentialed” with the Bucs.

    Please!

  15. I can remember a time before Dungy when Hardware was the entire team we were really bad. Hardware gave HOF effort on every snap. Call me a homer but Hardware is a better MLB. Mr. Lewis is more popular & had better team around him with better coaching. I hope Devin will become a one man wrecking ball
    like Mr. Nickerson.

  16. The alternative is NO ONE talks about us or they talk about how bad he is as a player.

Take the complement people. It doesn’t mean he is or will be a HOF’er. I’d rather good things be said and positive comparisons than the other way around.

    Go Bucs!
