Dolphins are bringing back Willie Gay on a 1 year deal.
The off ball LB market is drying up fast surprisingly.
Then after agreeing to terms with Hendrickson, used the bullshit "failed physical" excuse to renege on the trade and get their picks back.
maybe this is what Fire meant when he said investigate, but pretty unlikely it went down in that order. Hendrickson's price wouldve been known. Its not some tortured negotiation. Multiple teams all know what he wanted, including the Bucs who went the cheap route
"The Colts felt like they were close to a deal with Hendrickson at one point, and the Eagles got involved late in the process, sources told Fowler. Tampa Bay pursued a short-term deal, according to sources, but Hendrickson wanted a long-term deal with a contender."

i mean, what do they mean short term? a 1 or 2 year deal while others are offering 4 years
they weren't being serious. All will be well if they get Chubb and Bosa. double down on vets in the rotation...but only if Bucs are actually trying
their lack luster signings so far make me think they are easing into a rebuild. They feel the 2020 Superbowl should keep us happy until 2030. Going to be rough few years.

It doesn't seem like a rebuild to me. The Bucs were in cap jail the last three season and laid down the ground work with the players drafted. Bucs have cap space now that ME is a 49er so what are they going to do with the rest of the cap space?
First thing Licht does is re up Otton and then KG who is a third down/return specialist that is something a division winner does by having leeway and luxury but the Bucs faltered down the stretch. The Bucs are acting like their defense is set and are ready for the draft just by adding Anzalone. But there has to be more moves in free agency coming becoming at this point...

thats why were are at an interesting fork in the road.
Last season the Bucs actually sold "SB contender" to fans, but their actions were not matched to that eg mostly modest FA period and still aging vets etc.
This off season they've shed Evans so the natural "contender" response would be to strike some big deal . . and yet "short term" offer to Hendrickson . .the position they need most?
I smell a rat at OBP. . that's been running around since 2022

I agree. They are acting more like a division winner. Even if they won the division last year at 8-9 I would not have wanted them to act this way. However, it seems like they are still in cap jail. 15 Mil cap space is not a lot.

Bucs still had dead cap money which is why they were very trepid with FA last off season. Plus, they were a division winner that showed improvement. This year the Bucs did not win the division and regressed. Dead cap money is of the books for the most part other than Evans and they have cap space to operate more with now. $13.3 dead cap money isn't a lot honestly.
Apples to oranges.
Not too upset about not getting Hendrickson. That's a lot of guaranteed money for a 32 year old coming off an injury who is a revolving door when it comes to run defense. Granted when healthy he's great at rushing the passer.
Dolphins sign Uche on a one year deal.
Colts add DE Clemmons to a 3 year $17.5 MM deal.
Off ball LBs and rushers are coming off the board now.

Bro, they’ve been coming off the board for nearly two days now.
