he has been inconsistent to date and even in his Buc career

LMAO

I mean, the Bucs have been inconsistent during Mayfield's Bucs career, right? The team. The entire team.  And NOT because of him.

Just barely over .500 the whole time, which is the definition of inconsistent.  Three OCs and three different offenses. No run game one year, great run game the next, no run game again. Steadily declining defense. . .  The GOAT Tom Brady was inconsistent with this version of the Bucs. Wasn't he 8-9 in 2022? Maybe lowest QBR of his career? TOM FREAKING BRADY.  Mayfield is NO TOM BRADY, but he is a good QB who can win games WITH a good team around him

To that point about the team around him, maybe the Red Board has to pick a lane (or sedatives lol)? In RB world,  Bowles is the "worst coach" in the history of football AND he "interferes with the offense" (lol). That is a RB staple. So, Mayfield is supposed to set records for consistency IN THAT ENVIRONMENT? Mayfield is supposed to "overcome" Bowles "incompetence" and "interfering with the offense" (love that one) even though Brady could not?  Make it make sense. The two things are completely inconsistent together. In fact, if Coen is the HC do you think 2025 looks like that? So, if the team is dragged down by Bowles incompetence then performance - especially with a DC interfering with the offense - is really a reflection of Bowles, not Mayfield.  At best, Mayfield is "not good enough to overcome it?" Um . . . okay? Pretty tough thing to overcome. . . and yet 2023 and 2024????????

Mayfield is probably the LEAST of the Bucs problems, a point that should be obvious just by looking at 2023, 2024. . . and the first 9 games of 2025 (had to get that in! lol)

Red Board, putting the "F" in FICKLE!!

Although, despite their promises that they’re “Baker-bois” some posters are sneakily consistent with their blame of the QB for the inconsistency of the offensive output of the OC and the defense.

The introduction of the GOATs numbers -as Buc - points to whom is really to blame for the inconsistency, of both the offense, and the defense.

Absolutely nothing was Baker's fault.

Absolutely nothing was Baker's fault.

almost as bad as saying it was "all his fault" based on 8 games  :-)

Kidding aside, in these threads there are ample statistics and facts that should lead any reasonable person to believe that it is MORE LIKELY THAN NOT that outside factors contributed to Mayfield's decline at the end of 2025. (Not the least of which is his MUCH BETTER than usual play at the beginning of the same season lol)

But, the Red Board is home to the transparently unreasonable take, always followed by the "till the death" defense lol. Lots of "black and white" when most things are GREY.

Mayfield is a good QB and maybe even a very good QB at this stage in his career, but like most QBs not so good that he's going to always overcome obstacles/challenges and not so good that his own play doesn't dip.

A similar QB won a Super Bowl this year, for whatever that is worth.
