Good breakdown on draft strategy.
In short, reaching is really bad... Getting a steal is only marginally good.
Thanks for posting. Interesting stuff.
I definitely get the broad strokes point: dont reach.
But what is a reach in the real world? If the Consensus places a player at 55 but we pick 46 then what? We pass on the player in favor of the player ranked 46th, assuming we cannot arrange a fair trade?
I guess it makes complete sense with obvious reach but the closer the parameters the tougher, maybe? Sort of the lie balancing BPA and need
Reaching is like autism. It's on a spectrum and the earlier the pick the smaller the delta should be (ie consensus 8 but taken 3 is a pretty big reach but 55 vs 50 isn't a reach at all).

This is why Shahid Khan should fire James Gladstone. The I'm smarter than the room, I chase shiny objects GM is goofy. He has zero idea what he's doing.
But alas, it's a coaches league and Cohen may be able to cover up a lot of his deficiencies.

James Gladstone works for Coen. Gladstone described the 2026 draft as "strategically bold." That is a little CYA from the #2

The Seahawks did this a decade ago and it was rated and F draft but it ended up being elite with Wagner and others.
9/10 it's wrong but every now and then...

If one were to apply the thoughts expressed here to the Jaguar draft you have a full on REVOLT. LOL. With the exception, I guess, of Pregnon its all developmental type overdrafts, according to the experts. Will be interested to see it play out.
There is a joke about firing Gladstone, but if this doesnt work out it will be Khan who should fire himself. The risk of vesting all power in one. Might pay off big. Could also fail spectacularly.
Khan who should fire himself.
I can get behind this. The Urban Meyer experiment alone should have made him sell the team.
