Emeka is 1k slot receiver out of the gate
That’s rare for rookie WR’s regardless. It’s even more rare when they aren’t the #1. That would be a surprise.
Yea just in general, it's how I saw his floor coming out the draft, really polished smart guy with good feel as a slot. With Godwin out I expect a lot of production from him the early weeks. JMC runs a mean corner, but Double E has it all and we're gonna ask him to do alot
Easy qb target because you know where hes gonna be when he runs his routes and his smoothness, similar to Kupp/Godwin and is a tough runner.
JMC just needs time to adjust to the physicality of the NFL dbs, building contact balance and beating man, I can really see him breakout year 3/4 but i expect to see another step in his game this year. Most of his yards were picked up running in space when he didnt have a guy on where he had to pickout a zone.
Would like to keep Mike but we are gonna have a dangerous group of receiver and 10 personnel this year if he stays. I can see Godwin getting "TE looking" reps how the rams used puka in situations, and how I would use him

I agree and I hope that is the plan.

if they dont resign Mike, we will not be competing for a run in the playoffs. Will we make playoffs? maybe, but will depend how weak division is again in 2026.
at that point, likely should tell David thanks but no thanks
we dont have many older vets with only Vita Vea and Chris Godwin coming to my mind. Likely should look to trade Vea as maybe he still has some value left
Would rather keep Godwin considering he may carry the load and given his injury issues, likely no trade value

They almost made the playoffs with Evans producing at a Sterling Shepherd level, so yeah if he comes back and stays healthy to produce like Mike Evans . . . he'd be a big help.

Anyone can make playoffs in our division…..well except apparently year 4 of Todd Bowles
im talking about actually doing damage in them

We’re not making a run at anything with this HC.
The fact that he was retained, after being called out by multiple players, is absolutely comical.
Our only hope is Zac produces like Liam did, in the sense that Coen carried the team in 2024.

I get the Bowles point but the Saints, Falcons and Panthers could not, until last year. We also won a SB only five years ago. It was 18 years between that SB and the one prior.
Saints won in 2010, so they are 15 years in. Falcons and Panthers never.
6 years after we won the Super Bowl, Gruden was fired. He only got back to the playoffs twice.
POINT: Its not that hard to see why Bowles might have had a path back . . . with the Glazers. I dont agree with it either. Hopefully Evans comes back and plays like Evans . .that would help in 2026
As much as I appreciate what Mike has done for the Bucs, I'm concerned about his hamstrings. He has had hamstring injuries every year since 2018, and he's not getting any younger. I'd like to see him back for another year or two for his leadership, but I don't think he's an every-down-every-play player anymore, and if his next contract reflects that, he may not want to sign.

I agree with this. The Seahawks turned the page on some great vets as it was time. I don't want Mike to leave but, I also don't want to pay him an ass ton. My gut tells me he ends up in Houston with a two year contract. It would hurt but, we have the WR room to move forward.
It does sound like we are signing Njoku...

so we got Godwin who gets hurt just about every other year; played just 9 games last year, 7 the year before and we want to assume he will be healthy.
He may be a shell of his former self and actually "older" than Evans given the beating his body took
we got Egbuka who was a stud and shoe in for rookie of the year and was not existent the last half of the year; and it wasn't a lack of targets. He averaged 8 targets a game through the first 9 games and 6 targets a game through the final 8. That number jumps to 7 if you throw away the monsoon final game of the year. He went from averaging 74 yards a game to 32 yards per game. What happened?
Clearly we are hoping Egbuka is closer to the first half of the year and we got ourselves a solid receiver but maybe he's Michael Clayton II
and McMillan has got potential as we saw in his rookie year and last year, a bit injury prone to start his career
So all this to say, there's absolutely no reason for the Bucs to think they would be fine without Evans

In a hypothetical world, if the Bucs finished 8-9 but were mediocre all year, win 1, lose 2, win 2, lose 1 type of year, then i could see the argument of not allowing 1 down year be the end of Bowles
BUT...
for the way this collapse happened after a 6-2 start, having a losing record on the 6 game stretch where we were favored in every game, having his side of the ball get progressively worse each season and in particularly this 2nd half versus 1st half; barely eeeking out 2 of the wins we've had in the 2-7 collaspe and looking like one of the worst teams in the league; yeah....i dont see how anyone survives that
Not even Bill Belichick survived that. He went 2-7 in his last 9 games of the 2023 season. He was exited as soon as the season concluded...and there is a guy that coached the team to 6 superbowl championships and 9 appearances.
He went 8-9 the season previously with a 10-7 sandwiched in between a 7-9 season before that. Remind you of anyone else?
I could see Andy Reid getting a mulligan but again that's a 3 time Superbowl champ we are talking about

I agree an have posted several times that Bowles should have been fired instead of this half in/half out stuff.
But the reason I said he had a path is very easy to see even if you disagree with it, and all the more so when you compare the Bucs during the Bowles era to actual super bowl teams.
Two things can be true at once. It is true that (imo) Bowles should've been fired. Its also true that the PRIMARY focus of the team during his entire tenure as HC has been dead cap $ first, talent second. Especially if you compare the Bucs to the Patriots lol. Or maybe the Eagles.
The owners control that last part, not Bowles.
It's hard for me to erase the image of M1K3 running off the field after the Falcons game yelling "3rd and 28" in utter frustration. This came almost 5 years after walking off the same field as a world champion. What a contrast. I hope M1K3 doesn't leave the Bucs, but I can certainly understand it if he decided to move on to a real contender to finish out his career.
