If we have Vea we should absolutely be better since we have better talent on our defense. Offense if healthy should be better too. There's not really any excuses in my book for Bowles this year.

2022 - Inherited a team coming off a Super Bowl and a franchise best 13 wins. Certainly there were exits (Marpet, Gronk, Brown) and Brady was on the way down but under no circumstances should that team have had a losing record.
2023 - His best season and at one point, we were 4-7. Can't argue with a playoff win and in particular against the Eagles! that's always an extra boost for me.
2024 - Supported by a top 5 offense. Grant it, offense short of fumbled the game away in the 4th quarter up 17-13, but defense couldnt get off the field either. They were getting bailed out by Washington's coaching. A disappointment given the momentum the team had heading into the playoffs
2025 - Ok, so his most injury riddled year but at one point even with the injuries, the team was 6-2. To finish 2-7 and in particular 2-4 in the last 6 games favored in all of them, yeah, really throwing out Ben Brederson's name as the excuse is not helping anyone. The team was relatively healthy for that 6 game stretch (Kancey, Mauch, Brederson - big fucking deal)

just stating, we are fans of a pretty anemic franchise and the dude is already tied for division title leads among head coaches.
I agree that as of today, the dude has hardly done anything impressive (outside of 2023 playoff victory, first year after Brady)
Since then the defense has gotten progressively worse , we are in the worst division, and he just oversaw one of the worst collapse in recent NFL history.

It comes down to Mayfield magic and the 2026 defensive rookies for this team to go over the .500 line. Licht decided to sit on his hands this off season for the most part.

After pre season game 1 I think the defense is looking a lot different in that the new players fit the scheme better. The backend has more players that are able to plant and drive with agility versus playing stiff with their hips which is why I suspect the heavy zone defensive looks on the backend will continue.
Up front the defensive line looks solid but the mystery with Vea's future looms. Bucs have a platoon along the DL to call on but one injury away from being very thin and that is without Vea. The edge rushers all looked more active with the exception of Braswell.
On offense the passing game looked fine and I had no complaints with the pass calls. The run plays were okay in terms of calls too but the execution is worrisome because no RB average more than 4 yards per carry.
Bucs need an average running game to augment a clearly strong passing attack with this WR and RB groups respectively.
