I'm watching pregame tonight and I'm seeing most of the players wearing helmets with padding during practice. If those helmets are effective, why don't they wear them during the season? I thought safety was paramount for the NFL. Just sayin'.

This is an entertainment business and the helmets look geeky. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't some kind of new helmet technology for games in the near future though.

I think they’re really important for practice, helmet technology has come a long way, and the rules have helped a lot as well.
I actually wondered if the players chilled/froze them and were using them to stay cool?
