Evans leaving has had a bigger impact than I think is being mentioned....Evans for many years WAS our threat. His commanding double teams is what opened up the field for other Wr' to thrive. Now that his presence is gone there just aren't any other Wr' on the roster that command that kind of attention. Sure Godwin is reliable, but he's still a shell of his former self prior to that 2024 injury. Sure some of that can be chalked up to improper use by the OC, but even he I feel like has been having trouble seperating...Mike was also a security blanket for every QB this team had during his tenure here. Gone is that big bodied WR that makes the difficult grabs(and drops a few) especially on 50/50 balls. I think Hurst can probably develop into something in that ballpark in time, but in the interim that aspect of this offense is just gone. Even though Evans has had a difficult few years with injuries and missed time, I would have much rathered see Godwin and his salary walk out the door this past offseason.
