I’m neutral on Bowles
A very short list of other people you're "neutral" on:
Maurice Stovall
Josh Freeman
Kevin Pamphile
Josh Rosen
Adam Humphries
Speedy Scotty Miller
Sean "Emmith Smith Jr." Tucker.
Why are the Bowles leghumpers trying to act as if they aren't Bowles leghumpers now? At least own it, cowards.

I’ll get to the others later but the Bucs went 1-16 in a 17 game stretch with Griese, Garcia, Leftwich, Johnson and a rookie Freeman. Luke McCown publicly talked about he was benched pre-game in Atlanta because of a contract dispute. Bucs defense and special teams were lights out that game, Griese was pathetic.

not sure about the contract dispute for a vet minimum contract
After that 2008 collapse, Luke played until 2015....another 7 seasons and threw exactly zero touchdown passes in that span.
if only the rest of the NFL saw what you saw....

They were trying to lock him in before the Falcons game. He rejected it so they benched him. Again, it’s all public.

doubtful it's public. I'd asked to share a link, but not sure an article has ever been written about your boy Luke
so let me get this straight, Garcia and Griese started the first 12 games to a 9-3 record. Garcia goes down in the monday night game and instead of going back to Griese who was 3-0 as starter, they wanted to do McCown but couldn't iron out his vet minimum contract....
what are your smoking cuz and let's just make sure you arent' operating a fork lift while doing it
I’d think it would be a bit more than $40m average per year, but you’re more likely to get a team friendly deal if you’re negotiating, early, rather than later. QB salary can be a cap “bank” for team extensions for other players, later.makes no business sense to sign him now, especially when you can easily just franchise tag him
If they think he’s “their guy” then yes, it does.
Needs to be within reason though.
I wouldn’t go beyond 4yrs - $160M with $96M to $100M guaranteed.
He’d be set financially and it could be an easily structured “team friendly” deal. They can draft the replacement.
Win/win for both sides.
Otherwise, he can enjoy his time in LA for a few years.
i think by waiting you burn some of that goodwill.
Until Baker got his brains beat in by the rent-o-line we were forced to deploy for MOST of the season - Baker was carrying this offense (cuz those 5 wins sure weren’t play-calling).we are not at risk of losing baker particularly with franchise tag option so we really need to see what QB we have
I think the talk of extending him is based on them sort of knowing what they have. I say that because last go around everyone was freaking out at a report that said they would pay Mayfield $40 million per year and I think it came up at more like $35 and the market also moved north.
at some point fans just have to let Jesus take the wheel, so to speak. Licht and Greenberg have done a pretty good job. It usually works out
listen, if baker hit 2025 like he did 2024, we'd all be clamoring to extend him
but he didnt and was actually his worst of 3 years, albeit still top 20 QB play
the question becomes is a top 20 QB worth $50M+ per year. That type of investment, in my opinion, is for a top 10 guy.
which is why i am suggesting, let's see how 2026 plays out.

There are no “prove it (again)” deals, you get him a line, backs and receivers, and a decent offensive coordinator, he cooks.
Beyond that, he’s gutsy, plays with fire and is capable of inspiring the offense and defense. You don’t have to love his total package to know you can win with him, just protect him, and get him a freaking defense that can get more than a couple stops every 6 games.
I think major concessions from Baker’s camp - based on some fans belief he isn’t ideal, just available - are over. It doesn’t have to be for a long time, just a good time…
cowards
calling people stuff anonymously is brave tho lol. Threatening fights anonymously over football - really brave!
lmao good grief.
fake trolling RB1 for 14 weeks! Bring on the medal!

This is where you guys lose me. It's almost double speak. He's an mvp talk QB literally overcoming blocked punts (Houston) and IN YOUR OWN WORDS plays for an incompetent head coach and even then his decline in play tracks with an injury... but 2025?
I think major concessions from Baker’s camp - based on some fans belief he isn’t ideal, just available - are over.
Major concessions?
What do you think his contract should look like?
f only the rest of the NFL saw what you saw....
Exactly.
We have a lot of young Buc fans on here. Many don’t understand what poverty this team has seen. It’s the main thing that makes me laugh when many are like “Fire this guy, Licht isn’t as good as you make him, bring back Shiano”.
I’d like to talk to anyone who wants to bring back Schiano.
I agree with you, was there in the stands for many bad owners, bad coaches, bad seasons, bad GM’s.
Like Bowles, Licht is stubborn, but he’s not bad.
Any wanting both Bowles and Licht (and Baker) to be be sent elsewhere, are just mad with anger and are convinced everyone needs to go. I’m not that guy, but hanging onto Bowles, while firing the guys he hired to fix the last collapse, was idiotic.
While I am no longer a fan of Bowles, I have defended him, even like him as man. I just used-up my last straw on him, last season. When his most recent of 3 mid-season DEFENSIVE collapses (he’s a defensive genius) was only distinguished by his inability to rally the defensive troops, and an even worse defense (and 3rd & 28…don’t care what anyone says).
However, Licht has demonstrated growth and is worth keeping. Some continuity must be maintained or you just keep starting over with the next wunderkinde…every year or two.

Whenever I present a strong point that you can’t dispute you chop up my post and bring up past players, even though I was usually right about them. And saying a coach shouldn’t be fired is a whole different conversation than saying players should be given a chance to play over underperforming players or get paid.
Stovall- When given the chance to be the #2 he performed like an average #2. I thought he should have been given that role in 2010 but instead they burned a high 2 with Benn. I hated the Benn pick and was right.
Freeman- didn’t know he had a problem. Should have put him in rehab. Special talent.
Pamphile- Bucs had him internally graded as their best lineman in 2016. He developed an undisclosed illness.
Rosen- I knew he grew up wealthy but I didn’t know he didn’t love football.
Humphries- Great player for us. Had we re-signed him he would have been special with Brady. Titans weren’t a fit, then got concussions.
Miller- Great player for us. Brady actually had a higher QBR in 2020 when he was the #3 instead of AB. Don’t know why they kept using resources to try replace him (Darden, Gage). Stupid.
Tucker- elite back. Elite. When he gets to be a real part of the offense he looks amazing but they just give him scraps. Costs us games.

Schiano got screwed here. He was bringing in elite players and the team was very well coached. Replacement refs cost them 2 games in 2012 and lost some other flukey games. 2012 team was better than some Bucs teams that made the playoffs. We’ll never know what would have happened if he got a 3rd year but it would have been better than Lovie.
And how has Licht demonstrated growth?
