Baker - 2 year, $100M, AAV - $50M, $100M guaranteed (has this been reported? any links?)
Buccaneers offered Baker Mayfield a two-year extension - NBC Sports
in any event, the first 5 do not look like the last one in terms of contract and commitment but only you would spin it as Bucs actually doing better for Baker!
When I read anyone stating that Baker will bail if they have a good season, I know they don't understand psychology even on a cursory level and are probably battling a bit of 'tism...
If Baker plays well, Tampa will pay him well. If he doesn't play as well, Tampa will pay him proportionate to his pay. This is the only case where I see Baker walking, if he doesn't play as well as he is stating in the preseason ("we're going to shock some people"), he may not like Tampa's offer and then he's out. Vegas has him at 70% of balling out.
i've said many times before
-he plays like he did the last 11 games of last year, the Bucs likely let him walk and get a cheaper bridge option if they are going to suck anyway
-he plays like he did the first 6 games and 2024 - they offer him a 5 year deal
- he plays closer to 2023 overall performance - they likely are holding firm at a the 2-3year deal
Yup.
And yes Mayfield was insulted by the Bucs recent contract offer. Mayfield is a family man and he isn't accepting essentially a 2 year deal no more. Men change when they have a wife and a kid.

Baker was focusing on all the positive he has done - i.e. keeping the Bucs relevant post Brady, winning the franchises first non Brady led team to a playoff victory, boasting a top 5 offense with 40+ TDs. He has done a lot of good.
BUT...what he is "blacking out" about is his inconsistent career to date and that he was coming off some of the worst football of his career, statistically speaking, in a sizable stretch of play last year - his last 11 games! This was not cherry picked but rather, when the skid began last year.
The Bucs sort of said, "there's no way he's that bad", let's sort of discount that a bit for injuries, OC, etc. (as most supporters of an extension) have done but Baker is saying...listen, last year isn't me.....i'm the 2024 guy
and i am glad Baker is doing that, like i said before, that would not be comforting if the dude would have accepted a 2 year deal at his last opportunity for a big and lengthy contract
but...i digress, we have some fans on here not living in the real world....trying to say the 2 year deal is better than the other QBs in his tiers getting 5 year deals!
Still, to expect Baker to accept that is Ludacris given he'd be forgoing potential larger pay day.
Since you think the offer was so “Ludacris”…
Factoring in this season (which was guaranteed as a form of an early extension), plus 2 additional seasons at over $100M+ fully guaranteed; that would put his 2026 - 2028 seasons at right around $140-$150M fully guaranteed.
How many QB’s in the league are making that much in total guaranteed money over the same timeframe?
Kermit answered "none" so looking at the current NFL QB contracts from a GUARANTEED persecutive (rather than APY) the difference between Mayfield and the Bucs at this moment is probably an additional one year guaranteed salary?
I guess that because $140-150 guaranteed puts him roughly 12th in the current list. And its a very top heavy list, so basically "franchise" QBs only. So, another year at $50+ guaranteed, and he is in Joe Borrow, Dak Prescott $ . .
So, maybe its not even right to say they are a full year guaranteed apart? Maybe less?
Fewer than 10 QB’s in NFL history have made $150M in guaranteed money over a 3-year timeframe.
So, Baker was given a VERY FAIR deal.
If he wants more years, I get it. Most likely his last shot at a career high payday.
But, it wasn’t insulting by any measure.
why did he take it as an insult?
No idea.
You’re the one with his face tattooed on the small of your back.
You tell us.
what did other QBs like Hurts, Lawrence, Love, Purdy, and Goff get recenty
Next....
4 of those 5 aren’t getting the same guaranteed money that Baker was offered over a 3-year timespan.
Next…
Lawrence - 5 year $275M, AAV - $55M - $200M guaranteed
Love - 4 years, $220M, AAV - $55M - $160M guaranteed
Purdy - 5 years, $265M, AAV - $53M - $183M guaranteed
Golf - 4 years, $212M, AAV - $53M, $171M guaranteed
Hurts - 5 years, $255M, AAV - $51M, $179M guaranteed
--------------------------------------
Baker - 2 year, $100M, AAV - $50M, $100M guaranteed (has this been reported? any links?)
Lawrence - $142M fully guaranteed at signing
Love - $100.8M fully guaranteed at signing
Purdy - $100M fully guaranteed at signing
“Golf” - $113.6M fully guaranteed at signing
Hurts - $110M fully guaranteed at signing
Baker (with essentially an early extension that started this year with fully guaranteeing this year’s money, plus the 2 additional years at over $100M fully guaranteed) - $140M+ fully guaranteed
Moving on…
support for the 140M guaranteed? link?
and you continue to ignore length of contract....
and you continue to ignore length of contract....
so if the $140 million over 3 ye is correct, you think the Mayfield camp wants more like $200 over 5? I think most of the comp QBs have voids at 2029, 2030 or 2031, so 5 years would be at the outside, right?

i doubt his issue was with the guaranteed money even if it was really the $100M over 2 year extension.
not following guaranteeing this year....like what value is that? even if Baker gets hurt in week 1, they aren't cutting him and he's getting paid. so that i guess inflates the guaranteed but really adds no value, similar to guaranteeing Vea this year. Are you following me there? Like, the Bucs are not cutting these guys for the 2026 season.
Baker likely wanted a 5 year, $275M deal
He likely would have accepted a 4 year, $220M deal.
2 years was a joke to expect him to accept that. Baker was unreasonable to not even counter. Like i said, definitely overstating what he has done for the franchise. Like if he would have led Bucs to playoffs last year, even despite pedestrian numbers, and they won a playoff game; he'd have more support and public outcry around them not extending him yet. So him crying to the media over it, was sort of misplaced...like what dude...did you not see the disaster that you were a part of in our 50 year anniversary.
