9 wins sounds about right. We know they'll have a mid to late season slump cause teams are up to speed and in sync. We just have to hope we have some kind of run like we had early in the season again this season. As long as we have Todd bowles here that will be the predictable nature of this team.

Let’s write an article describing last season, but make it seem like we’re writing it about this season. It’ll be done quickly, no one will hold us accountable (or remember), while looking like we did actual research… that way we can spend more time doing waaay-too-early mock drafts…”

It will be interesting to see how the Bucs "improved-to-just-average defense" does vs these QBs:

Burrow, Murray, Love, Prescott, Rodgers (last hurrah), Williams, Goff, Herbert, Jackson, Stafford. Something like 9 of the top 15 NFL QBs.

It will be interesting to see how the Bucs "improved-to-just-average defense" does vs these QBs:

Burrow (30), Murray (7), Love (11), Prescott(32), Rodgers (last hurrah)(17), Williams(23), Goff (22), Herbert(8), Jackson(18), Stafford(10). Something like 9 of the top 15 NFL QBs.

That lineup is no joke, but maybe it matters more how our offense plays?

I added next to the QB name the team's 2025 defenses ranked by scoring.  A lot can change in an offseason, but the bad Bucs defense was BETTER than 4 of those defenses. Lol, yikes.

If that relative ranking holds and the Bucs offense of 2026 is in somewhere between 2023 and 2024 production, that lineup looks a little less daunting? wiht some offesne and average dfense seems like we could beat Burrow and Rodgers, for example.

Home games in bold, so maybe beat the Vikings or Packers or Steelers and/or Chargers at home?

Warren Buffet recently called sports betting "a tax on stupidity." Agree or disagree his point is on full display in the NFL.

Last year we beat the Seahawks on the road.  They had just won 3 in a row.

Sometimes the outcome of an NFL game is dictated more by the circumstances then the comparison of the two teams. We may play the Chargers when they are on fire and if they win the game right after us (Raiders) they clinch the division, make the playoffs.  We become the trap game.

Part of what makes the NFL great to watch, not so great to bet sometimes

if they find consistency

Consistency isn’t a thing in the NFL.  Too many moving parts.  It’s why the Patriots are the only dynasty in the last 30 seasons.  They had a maniac for a QB and a maiac for a head coach.

From what I understand, the Bucs are not worried about QB's. They are all-in on improving upon their 5th ranked run defense in each of the last three seasons. It's top 4 or bust, baby. The bottom-6 pass defense the last three years? Just some communication issues.

to be clear, i was quoting the article.  The only thing consistent about our current Bucs under Bowles/Baker era is a mid-season losing streak

Day 6 in the "life" of Biggs sees minor progress.  A troll but at least the device is football and not the usual conflicted homoerotic stuff.  Must of had some time with the minister this Sunday

@Biggs3535 this is an actual football conversation.  No name calling, no trolling . .  no coping

I’d agree with this. Using one early example against an elite defense. Our offense, mostly due to a healthy Baker Mayfield, who could only seem to get out of situational 3rd downs by relying heavily on putting his own body at risk, was able to beat a stellar Texans team.

The Texans offense was not very good, but the game was close because their defense was elite.

A better offensive scheme, a healthier offensive line, and an improved run game, coupled with an average NFL defense (with more pressure), tends to support my optimism. We didn’t just add more bodies, we added better talent at OLB, tackle, and ILB.

A McVay disciple at OC, an experienced WR room, and a healthier, deeper, more experienced o-line, better run game - on offense. Better d-line, more experienced secondary, with more depth at OLB, ILB - on defense.

I can’t see how this team won’t be better.

In other news the sky is predicted to be blue

yeah its not going out on a limb

What's not mentioned here is the state of the rest of the division and how that impacts things. The oddsmakers are selling the rest of the division short IMO, specifically the Panthers and Saints. Nine wins isn't going to get it done this year IMO. This division will be on the rise, and the Bucs had better keep pace.  I'm sure the oddsmakers do a lot of research, but in the end they fall back on how the last year ended up.  They see the division sucked, and they expect it to suck again.  I think it's looking up and I hope the Bucs aren't left in the dust.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 8.5 +105 -125 +160
Carolina Panthers 7.5 +110 -130 +310
New Orleans Saints 7.5 -120 +100 +265
Atlanta Falcons 6.5 -120 +100 +450

I'm sure the oddsmakers do a lot of research,

They absolutely don’t do a lot of research.

Here’s the research that is done on every damn line, college and pro

QB+Defense+coach - which team is better at these three things, where is the game being played.  The end.
