The plan was most likely to have Morrison come in at boundary with McCollum with Parrish kick inside on long passing downs but I guess that plan is up in smoke now.

Morrison is not in football conditioning.

I think he practiced in full today and there are 2-3 weeks to game 1.

That honestly isn't enough time for game 1 for him to be in football conditioning. Vea doesn't play a lot of snaps and Wirfs is an athletic freak.  For Morrison to be ready to go he needs to be able to have more contact and stress put on his body.

By game 3 of the regular season Morrison may be caught up with his football conditioning because the rest of the players have been doing it all off season with OTAs, mini camp, training camp, pre season, etc.

More likely if Morrison is active and plays the opener they put him on a low pitch count to ease him in with a few plays similar to what they did with him last season.

Surprised there’s not more comments about Bowles dropping Bain and yaya 2 out of 6 plays. Although it shouldn’t really be a surprise to anyone.

I am done harping about this. It's a mistake and it will be a mistake once all the Publix stockboys resume stocking shelves. Just because it "worked" or "looked good" during a preseason means exactly dick.

Josh Q wrote up the first 2 series of the KC game with the game film. In his words, the deception in the Bowles defense reflects "how Bowles can attack opposing offenses with a roster built to his vision."

Its worth a read and a look, even though its just a preseason game

https://www.pewterreport.com/bucs-defense-53-man-roster-queipo-cover-4/

Its "pressure in various forms paired with full field rotations."   Its why he wanted Trotter and Anzalone "with a more athletic linebacker corps that early middle of the field windows up the seams are a more difficult proposition for quarterbacks" and why he wanted Scott ('three-man safety group that can all move into the box, or the slot means the Bucs defense can match pre-snap motion without ever losing leverage or the threat of a quick blitz from a defensive back" and why the defense should be so much better with a healthy Kancey ("Because of Calijah Kancey’s unique athleticism, his first step and juice off the ball immediately occupied both Moore and left guard  Suamataia. . .  And with the center shading to nose tackle Rakeem Nuñez-Roches, Anzalone came through clean enough to look like a free runner...")

Obviously, Fields is not Mahomes etc, but at minimum you can see the plan, part of which is 2002/2020 style defense, meaning forcing the QB to throw underneath, often into the teeth of the defense and tackling short of the LOG. Obviously, Trotter pretty important in that scheme, but so are the CBs.

I think it goes back to how Bowles and the defense game-planned the last Super Bowl against the Chiefs. That worked to perfection in that game. Part of my issue with Bowles is the inability of this team to perform at that level consistently. It just isn't there/hasn't been there with him as head coach. And it is preseason, so we will see how things play out in the regular season.....only a few days away and I am ready!

I am ready!

me too.

I found it interesting that Josh Q noted "with a roster built to [Bowles] vision."

First, for better or worse that is obviously a true statement by Josh Q. This is a roster built to Bowles vision. Look no further than guys lie Trotter and Scott.

Second, that statement by Josh Q potentially aligns with the front office's perception of the team and Bowles. If it didn't they would've fired him after 2025.  Again, right or wrong, I am just saying that there are multiple indications that the team (FO, Owners etc) sees Bowles as a good coach needing on defense players that match his "vision."

Third, for better or worse, it means the Bucs and Bowles are all-in this season. If it all goes poorly, he will be fired. If it goes well enough he could even be extended (lol). I say that partly tongue in cheek BUT if the team performs well its easy to see the front office feeling vindicated and empowered to keep going with Bowles.

Fourth, Josh Q highlights a successful pre-season defensive performance that turns on Bowles defense and play calling, not players.  That's a good thing BUT its only pre-season and EVEN IF it was successful with live bullets an NFL defense cant ride on one way of playing a whole season. Even Bowles says that, so can they adapt on the fly.  I guess we will see.
