The offense lost this game. Any discussion to the contrary is simply put, intellectually dishonest.
Here’s hoping we don’t average 4 turnovers a game.
Yeah I can't blame the defense for this one. Even if the pass rush wasn't ideal and Anzalone looked flat it was still a defensive effort that was good enough. Yes the bar is that low for this defense.
i dont think defense underperformed though
The best thing you can say about the defense vs. Cincy is they only allowed two TD's. Outside of that, there isn't much good. They have got to do a better job of getting off of the field. You'll be surprised to find out they were the worst in the NFL at getting off of the field on Sunday. Here is the defensive stop rate for the 26 NFL teams that played yesterday:
Rank Defense Opp. drives Stops Stop rate 1 Arizona Cardinals 10 8 80.0% 1 New York Jets 10 8 80.0% 3 Jacksonville Jaguars 9 7 77.8% 4 Pittsburgh Steelers 13 10 76.9% 4 Atlanta Falcons 13 10 76.9% 6 Las Vegas Raiders 11 8 72.7% 7 Baltimore Ravens 12 8 66.7% 7 New Orleans Saints 15 10 66.7% 7 Philadelphia Eagles 12 8 66.7% 7 Washington Commanders 12 8 66.7% 11 Detroit Lions 14 9 64.3% 12 Buffalo Bills 12 7 58.3% 12 Minnesota Vikings 12 7 58.3% 14 New York Giants 7 4 57.1% 15 Miami Dolphins 11 6 54.5% 16 Chicago Bears 13 7 53.8% 17 Tennessee Titans 10 5 50.0% 18 Green Bay Packers 13 6 46.2% 18 Indianapolis Colts 13 6 46.2% 20 Cincinnati Bengals 9 4 44.4% 21 Dallas Cowboys 7 3 42.9% 22 Houston Texans 11 4 36.4% 23 Carolina Panthers 14 5 35.7% 24 Cleveland Browns 9 3 33.3% 24 Los Angeles Chargers 9 3 33.3% 26 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 9 2 22.2%
With all of that, just one more stop and the team would have had a chance at the W. They would still be tied for last, but hell, getting a timely stop is something. The league average was 56.5%. Tampa is sucking hind tit at 22.2%, which is beyond pathetic. And don't read any of this as a defense of the offense and Baker Mayfield turning the damn ball over so much. But the offensive turnovers doesn't excuse the defense not being able to get off of the field.
interesting stats. Carolina gave up 59 points yesterday yet this would suggest a better defensive day!
Houston is a top defense yet they were bottom 5 yesterday in this stat. Oh that's right, they played a top 5 QB...much like the Bucs.
Listen, i get it, and it seems on this board, it's much like politics where we go to both extremes. All of us, or let's say 95% of Buc Fans want Bowles gone. But to blame defense for everything but then not blame the offense is where i'm struggling.
The defense did not play great, not saying that but much like others are saying, they played ok enough against a top tier offense for the Bucs to win the game. Did they get the ball back after a garbage time touchdown for Bucs to get ball back for Baker to end it with an INT? no they didn't and that was a disappointment.
The defense scored a touchdown while the offense gave up a touchdown lol
Advanced analytics had the Bengals at 70% chance to win after Bakers fumble for a TD.
Then after Buckys fumble, it jumped to 77%. Jumped up to 84% after the Bucs gave up the 33 yard TD Drive when it was 14-3. Then after Bakers 2nd fumble, it stayed between 90 and 95% the rest of the game.
The last time the Bucs defense lost this team a game was the 29-28 Atlanta Thursday night game. But let's not forget the games they won us 16-14 versus Carolina and 20-17 versus Arizona. Shit, even the 23-3 Saints win led by Nelson TD was on the defense.
The offense last won us a game.....October 12, 2025 when we beat San Francisco 30-19. Complete complementary game of football there. Offense won the week before as well against Seattle but let's be real, that two week span had this team as Super Bowl contenders. We haven't been "good" since.
The defense scored a touchdown while the offense gave up a touchdown lol
Yeah take away the defensive TD and this team is back to averaging what they were doing last season.

Yeah during the collapse the Bucs could have lost the 2 games the defense helped keep this afloat.

alldaway, please be careful, personal attacks on you may be on the way :)

It suggests they got more stops than Tampa and a higher stop percentage than Tampa, which they did, even in giving up 59 points. That should tell you something.
But to blame defense for everything but then not blame the offense is where i'm struggling.
Who isn't blaming the offense? I've said multiple times, in this very thread, how shitty the offense played with the egregious amount of turnovers on Sunday. I'm not excusing the offense. I'm also not excusing the defense by saying they didn't "underperform" or calling giving up score after score after score a "massive win" for defense.
There is plenty of blame to go around on both sides of the ball.

not so much you and not so much twitter/x but on this board in particular, "fix the defense and all our problems are solved" seems to be the motto when in reality, the offense has been dog shit for quite some time now. and we just rewarded our QB for said dogshit....get a Jameis Winston type performance out of him yesterday and we are pointing fingers at the defense who held a top 5 QB to 23 points. Yeah...aint going to say they played good but it certainly was ok enough for us to win if not for the turnovers.
Who isn't blaming the offense?
Literally EVERY poster on here blamed the offense, despite that dumb bastard’s constant strawmen.
I see all the bullshit being spewed about the defense.....about how it wasn't that bad or it didn't cost the Bucs the game. True, it didn't cost them the game, but Biggs is 1000% correct. The defense needed more than 2 stops out of 9 drives. So only 22% of the time, they actually stopped the oppositions drive. That is TERRIBLE defense. Y'all can paint it any way you want to but Biggs is right and so is the assessment that the offense cost the Bucs at the end of the day. Both things are true. It's humorous to see the clamor and trying to defend shitty defense. There was one guy on defense that was an impact player. One. Josiah Trotter. That was it.
The RED BOARD has officially jumped the shark

yeah, it should tell everyone you are an inept troll
Did the NFL switch to a stops % league? Scording defense no longer matters
or, is it that 59 is less than 33 now? oh shoot . . 59 is less than 14 now?
the defense needs more stops doe snot mean STOPS are the stat. good grief
@ehinote . . . . told ya lmao
Biggs gonna Biggs. the guy who brought you "Jeruh era Cowboys are the best team because of their regular season wins... no one cares about playoffs, Super Bowls etc"
Correction. 3 out of 9; so 33% stop rate. It doesn't matter. That is terrible defense.I see all the bullshit being spewed about the defense.....about how it wasn't that bad or it didn't cost the Bucs the game.
