Look at these names annd really think about each player and what they bring, and tell me the Bucs have been complacent in the off-season.

We brought in the best OC available for Baker. We brought in the best RB available given the loss of White in Gainwell.
This is the part that makes me wonder what the talking heads are looking at.

Yes I do agree the Bucs defensive additions are an improvement from last season. But what the talking heads do understand and get right is the following. The key weakness of the Bucs last season was lack of guard depth and CB depth due to injuries. Dean is no longer on the team and he was the best CB on the roster last season, and guard depth is still questionable with only Schrauth as the lone potential bright spot on that front.

Yes more pressures and sacks will help the young DBs but in the modern NFL it is about coverage sacks too. That is why the Seahawks and Patriots have a deep line up of defensive backs respectively. This isn't a new trend as this is what BB was doing while the HC of the Patriots for his last SB run nearly a decade ago. And what the Rams are doing with their DB backfield this off season. Yes they traded for MG but they also acquired better players on the backend. This is why the Bucs didn't settle with what they had in their secondary and spent another draft pick on K. Scott. The Patriots went out and nabbed NFL elite ballhawk Byard to go along with Mike Brown to go along with the drafting of Jacas and picking up DreMont Jones for edge pressure.
DBs are almost as valuable as sack artists in the modern NFL so it is more accurate to say it is 1a versus 1b in terms of importance. Some teams put a premium on both.
For Bowles he has emphasized the value of DBs far more than edge in his schemes for example. And the draft history reflect this as well.
So it is baffling when the team stays pat after drafting K. Scott and they lost Dean. Scott is at best a replacement for Izien departing and projected to start in Detroit until Kirby is ready to go. So who is replacing Dean? Morrison? Okay who is replacing Morrison on the depth chart? That is what is concerning. Even if McCollum and Morrison ball out who are the backups at boundary CB that can step and not create a void elsewhere? K. Scott and Parrish could play boundary in a pinch but that create a void in other parts of the roster like NCB and Safety depth.
To run Bowles scheme you need another boundary CB to be added so that way Scott could focus on safety and/or NCB and Parrish stays at NCB and grows. The team like Ayden Garnes but at the end of the day there are so many boundary CBs that would be upgrades and help with this team to play in a pinch.

Yeah. Ramseys don’t grow on trees and Jamel was simply too often injured to really evaluate as anything other than a sometimes available playmaker, aka - you can’t overpay for that. I have to believe they will snag at least one CB between now and camp.
