Early interceptions by Aqib Talib put the Bucs defense in unfavorable, sudden-change situations inside the red zone twice in the first half. And while the defense allowed scoring drives of 11 and 15 yards, the unit held its own throughout most of the 27-7 game.

Leading the way was the defensive line, which was down Robert Ayers (foot) and Gerald McCoy (calf) by the second quarter. Players like Clinton McDonald and Will Gholston stepped up for Tampa Bay, with the former recording eight tackles and 1.5 sacks in one of his best games as a Buccaneer.

McDonald set the tone in the trenches early, notching both his sacks in the second quarter and helping to hold the Broncos to 27 yards rushing in the first half. The run dominance would continue into the second half (Denver finished with 89 yards on 32 carries), and though the defense gave up its worse drive to start the third quarter, McDonald was one of the few players to perform well from start to finish Sunday.

For his efforts in Week 4, McDonald is this week’s Just Grillin Pewter Player of the Week, and will receive a $50 gift certificate to Just Grillin in Carrollwood.
