BUCS’ BEST BET AT TE (EARLY 1-3)
David Njoku – Miami – Junior – 6-4, 245 – 4.64

Tampa Bay has been targeting tight ends that are expected to be drafted early in Njoku, Alabama’s O.J. Howard, who could be a top-10 pick, and Ole Miss’ Evan Engram, who is slated to be a second-round pick. Njoku and Howard visited One Buccaneer Place and have the talent, speed and playmaking ability that the Bucs are looking for in a tight end to play opposite Cameron Brate in two-tight end sets. At age 20, Njoku is one of the youngest prospects in this year’s draft, and his 11-1 broad jump, 37.5-inch vertical leap make him one of the most athletic, too. Njoku showed off his athleticism on the gridiron where he had eight catches of 40 yards or more and four catches that topped 50 yards for the Hurricanes as one of the most explosive tight ends in the nation. Njoku had a pair of touchdowns a 40-21 win over Duke last year that traveled 76 and 58 yards. Njoku had 43 catches for 698 yards (16.2 avg.) with eight touchdowns last year, and 21 receptions for 362 yards (17.2 avg.) and one score as a sophomore. Njoku could very well be in play for Tampa Bay with the 19th overall pick.

BUCS’ BEST BET AT TE (LATE 4-7)
Michael Roberts – Toledo – Senior – 6-5, 270 – 4.86

The Bucs scouted and interviewed Roberts twice at the East-West Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl. At 270 pounds, Roberts brings great size to the Bucs and his in-line blocking ability will help Tampa Bay’s run game and be more of a receiving threat than blocking tight end Luke Stocker. Roberts, who has the biggest hands in the draft, measured at 11.5 inches, flourished in the Rockets’ passing game last year where he caught a career-high 45 passes for 533 yards (11.8 avg.) with 16 touchdowns, which was the most of any tight end at the FBS level in 2016. After having only six touchdowns in the first two years of his Toledo career, Roberts emerged as a red zone weapon during his senior season. As a fourth- or fifth-round draft choice, Roberts is a complete tight end that could great help Tampa Bay’s offense and develop into a Day 3 steal in time due to his starting-caliber traits.
