32. New Orleans Saints
Key Free Agency Additions: WR, Ted Ginn, LB A.J. Klein, OG Larry Warford
Key Free Agency Losses: WR Brandin Cooks
Their Pick: Ohio State WR Curtis Samuel
The Saints trade with the New England Patriots that sent Brandin Cooks up to Boston gives them the final pick in this first round. With their No. 11 pick, they fixed a big need on their team with the draft’s top corner. Here they find Cook’s replacement in the best way.
Samuel was one of the most dynamic players in all of college football last season and his Combine numbers reflected that. He ran what I called “the most slept on 4.31 40-yard dash of all time” after having to go right after Washington wide receiver John Ross broke the combine record with his 4.22. Samuel is a do-it-all kind of player who can use his speed in the slot or out of the backfield. He’d fit great in a Sean Payton offense.
