Reynolds’ Reaction – Rounds 11-15
With seven of my first 10 picks coming from the defensive side of the ball – linebackers Derrick Brooks, Hardy Nickerson and Lavonte David, defensive linemen Lee Roy Selmon and David Logan and cornerbacks Ronde Barber and Donnie Abraham – I had to focus my attention on the offensive side of the ball to help running back James Wilder and wide receivers Mark Carrier and Kevin House. I wanted to draft Martin, but Sikkema beat my to it.

So, in rounds 11 and 12 I took two bookend tackles Donovan Smith and Demar Dotson back-to-back. Dotson is the best right tackle in team history, and while Smith has his critics, he helped Jameis Winston and Martin get to the Pro Bowl in 2015 as a rookie, as well as helping the Bucs offense eclipse 6,000 yards for the first and only time in franchise history.

I was shocked to see Sikkema select Blount in the 13th round, but elated as I grabbed Bell, a hero of the vaunted 1979 season, to pair with Wilder as my backup running back. Bell gives me the power and some pass-catching ability out of the backfield, while Wilder is my speed back and all-purpose back.

Cook groans as I finish my defensive tackle position with Culpepper, the team’s seventh-all time leading sacker with 33 QB captures. He was going to draft him in the 14th round, but I beat him to it, leaving him with the worst group of defensive tackles in PewterReport.com’s Bucs Fantasy Draft. While Culpper and Logan are a bit undersized, they have a combined 72 sacks between them. Add in Selmon’s 78.5 career sacks and my defensive line has 150.5 combined sacks.

I turn my attention to the secondary in the 15th round with the selection of Smith, who I will play at safety. I love Smith’s versatility to also play cornerback, and the fact that he set a Super Bowl record that will never be broken with two pick-sixes in Tampa Bay’s 48-21 win over Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII. Smith adds speed and playmaking ability to my secondary and had 12 regular season interceptions in his four years with the Bucs. With Barber, Abraham and Smith, my secondary is shaping up to be the most formidable in PewterReport.com’s Bucs Fantasy Draft.
