Cook’s Reaction – Rounds 6-10
I began PewterReport.com’s Bucs Fantasy Draft with quarterback Jameis Winston, wide receiver Mike Evans, safety John Lynch, fullback Mike Alstott and tight end Jimmie Giles with my first five draft choices, then completed my ground game with the selection of Dunn, a two-time Pro Bowler, in the sixth round to give my team the vaunted WD-40 backfield.

No one likes defense more than I do, but I still want to move the football. Grabbing one of the best running backs in team history to pair with Alstott, and lining them up behind Winston, and having Evans as my top receiver, makes it as formidable of an offense as you will find. But I wasn’t finished yet.

Former Bucs Tackle Donald Penn

Despite Donald Penn pretty much wanting to beat me up a fee years ago (Google Mark Cook and Donald Penn) I recognize him as a cornerstone at left tackle, and he will keep a clean pocket for Winston to find Evans – and my next pick – wide receiver Joey Galloway. Speed kills. So does crack cocaine, listening to KISS music and great white sharks, but in the NFL world, having a blazing receiver opens up a playbook and makes offensive coordinators giddy like school girls at a One Direction concert.

Galloway notched four straight 1,000 yard receiving seasons with the Bucs (and amassed 10,950 career receiving yards to go along with 77 touchdowns), averaging almost 16 yards per reception over his career. He will stretch the field, opening up the running game, the underneath routes for Giles and give Evans some one-on-one opportunities.

With an already loaded offense, it was time address the defense, and I went with two of the best. Kwon Alexander in his first two seasons has already established himself as one of the best in the NFL (238 tackles, 3 FFs), even if outsiders haven’t figured it out yet. But they will. Putting him next to Batman Woods creates a tackling machine on the middle for my defense and gives me two linebackers that will pop you if you come through their lane. And don’t forget, if somehow a ball carrier does get to the third level, I drafted Lynch to put an end to any nonsense ideas that a running back might have of not getting his clock cleaned.
