The poaching of the Bucs successful organization run has begun. Hours after reports of Bucs OC Byron Leftwich being hired as the Jaguars next head coach, more news broke concerning Tampa Bay. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Raiders are requesting permission to interview Bucs VP of Player Personnel John Spytek for their vacant General Manager position. Spytek

Spytek, who has spent six seasons in Tampa Bay, replaced Jon Robinson as the team’s director of player personnel in 2016. Robinson, who was Jason Licht’s right-hand man from 2014-15, became Tennessee’s general manager in 2016. Spytek is the fifth person the Raiders have lined up to interview this month. The Bucs personnel man already interviewed with the Vikings earlier this month.
Spytek came to the Bucs to become the team’s Director of Player Personnel after three years in Denver where he was an area scout (2013) and then a national scout (2014-15). He won a Super Bowl with the Broncos during the 2015 season. After the Bucs won Super Bowl LV, Spytek was promoted to Tampa Bay’s Vice President of Player Personnel.
Earlier today, reports surfaced that the Raiders were interviewing Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles for their head coaching vacancy. Bowles has already interviewed with three teams. Jacksonville, Minnesota and Chicago were all interested. However, the Jaguars are hiring Leftwich, and Minnesota and Chicago seem to have other frontrunners.
If the Bucs are going to lose Bowles or Spytek, Las Vegas is the most likely landing spot. But Bowles won’t interview with the Raiders until Thursday. So don’t expect any news for a couple days.
