There is a reason Jason Licht brought in so many new defensive linemen this offseason. Yes to upgrade the talent, but also to provide depth. And while it is not know if it is a significant injury or just a minor tweak, first round pick Vita Vea suffered some sort of leg injury early in practice in an 11-on-11 drill and after limping of the field where he was wrapped he was then carted off and eventually made his way to the Bucs locker room.

PewterReport.com will continue to monitor the situaton and update the story as the day goes on.
Over weight out of shape lineman are more injury prone, Lineman who do not show
personal discipline and stay in shape should not be drafted in first round .
Not sure Bucs management understand that !
REALLY BOB!
But ass bob IS mike.seven, and equally annoying with his uneducated dribble he spouts out every post. As soon as this happened I was talking to my brother and making a bet of how long it would take you to come out here and talk nonsense. They said it was a calf strain at this point which happens to anyone. Considering he’s played at that weight his entire college career and wasn’t hurt shows just how uneducated you really are
Just about every time I see a comment from Bob, 1 word comes to mind….. Twat
BUC-ASS-BOB with his usual negative stupid comments Of course BOB is right. The coaches and trainers have only been in the profession for years. I’m sure’ they are in need of your expertise. And just because he is big doesn’t mean he is out of shape. How about challenging him to a 40 yard dash BOB, if u can drag your big fat butt off your recliner. What a boob. Why don’t u go back to JoeBucsFan where people of your intelligence usually gather. In the meantime, this could be as simple as cramps, something a lot of new players… Read more »
It was clear he was out of shape at fiesta bowl when Barkley had a super star day running right through fat Veta over and over again.
problem is fat man can slows way down as game goes on, watch Fiesta bowl.
I’ll leave this hear on Vea and I think we would all agree. If we knew he wouldn’t start and would be backing up McCoy as the 3 tech we would be insane for selecting him over a player such as Derwin James.

Just an FYI that James is out for the Chargers right now with an Injury. You know that the plan for Derwin James in San Diego is for him to play on the running plays. They have not committed to him as a starter on obvious passing down except when he will be more of a rusher. James may be an excellent pro but we will have to wait to see. By the way there is also a very sad but crazy story on Derwin James. He and his uncle were coming out of a restaurant on Sunset Strip and… Read more »
I disagree about them being insane comments. First, Very few DT will start day 1. Especially with a stacked D line and a pro Bowler in McCoy. Also don’t you wait until see if James plays well before should have taken him over Vea? Lol
Secondly If it takes a year or two for him to be anywhwer near good as McCoy and starter then he was a steal. You don’t wait until 2-3 years when McCoy is done then draft his replacement and expect him to start immediately and be productive immediately. Doesn’t work that way.
Cracks me up all these morons on here basically declaring Vea a bust before he takes a snap. Lol.
I remember all the people even 1-3 years after McCoy started for Bucs that still were questioning if McCoy was a bust! It takes time for a DT to develop! Finally after years playing and several pro bowls now the morons have stopped saying he’s a bust at risk of sounding like a true asshat.
I’m greatly underwhelmed he can’t start at nose… say whatever you want about that.
Why, when you have two nose tackles and one with super bowl experience starting over him. Doesn’t that make more sense? Two NFL tested lineman over a rookie. The final depth chart hasn’t even come out. Not sure how you can be disappointed already? Buuut that is the way of most but fans I know.
I’m pretty sure Warren Sapp didn’t start his rookie year. Santana Dotson started over him because her couldn’t beat him out. I guess we shouldn’t have drafted him right?
First, we find out he’s not gonna start right out of the gate. Now, we find out he’s injured…definitely a bust!
Just to be clear since you can’t hear the tone of my voice…this is pure sarcasm
It’s not like he got “carted off” because he was unable to walk. He walked off the field, had it looked at and then rode the cart back to the locker room. To say the unknown injury was due to him being “fat and out of shape” when we’ve only heard raves about the first few days, is just a bit over the top trying to justify a preconceived bias.
