Now is the time of year where predictions are made both for teams as a whole along with individual players. Some of the more widely discussed topics in the offseason includes predicting who will win the biggest individual award in the NFL, the MVP.

Last season, Patrick Mahomes burst onto the scene in his first year as a starter and won the MVP in just his second season in the league. While Mahomes is at the top of the list to win the award again, two Bucs were also mentioned on the Las Vegas Super Book, with Jameis Winston and Mike Evans each coming in at 100/1 odds.

You can see the full list from John Murray and the Vegas Super Book here.

  1. There you go Fredster go put 100.00 on that one you will get 1,000 back actually put 100.00 on both you will get 2,000 dollars. Can’t miss Fredster.

This is a forum for expressing your thoughts, I use is as a protest against the 5,10,15 years of losing .
The finish of last place in division over and over.
They keep making the same mistakes year after year, I am sole person to stop and ask why!
Why can I not live in a town I love and have a hometown team that I am proud to watch support .
Why can I not decorate my house for xmas and sit in my beautiful big sofa lounger feet up, call for a beer and chips turn on the TV and watch the Bucs in a playoff game. Why?
wouldn’t that be nice even nicer win that game and look forward to next week and beyond in to Super bowl.
Have the biggest party of my life watching the Bucs win in a superbowl!
People think I am only on the riff because I do only riff what would I say Jameis only throw 15 Ints and won 3 games let’s celebrate because he could have thrown more we were not 0-16 like the browns were 2 years in row !
Should I say everything is great ?
Last year I screamed because they passed on Derwin James moved back and drafted 29 tackle 3 sack Vita, Buc ass your a moron Vita is a monster.
Derwin James is a bad first pick at 7.

    • I remember a few years ago (though seems like another time) when people could have friendly back and forth, point-out; in a resounding debate (usually after a beer or two) difference of opinions and at the end of the night, shake hands, agree to disagree, and look forward to the next round. Today of course, we don’t listen to any opinion other than the one we want to embrace. We’ve become negative and demeaning and instigate personal attacks against anyone who would dare question the status quo, who might suggest the new clothes the emperor’s may have faults or not exist. Now they are “jackasses, idiots, dumb as rocks, no loyalty, references to family heritage, etc. I enjoy reading the forum – mostly during the season. I am not by any means saying, I don’t think the same thing about many posts and opinions, sports related, political related, etc.

I also have the option of not reading an article, skipping an opinion or article from certain authors based on personal dislike or misleading – Their and my ignorance (lack of knowledge) pre-forming and opinion. I try not to belittle people public because of those opinions, non-use of spelling/grammar check, etc., although I may get a jab or two in. I may disagree with many of BAB’s opinions and other posters including “shock experts”, who opine on the ridiculous for a story. Keep going BAB and others – say what is on your mind, enjoy the thumbs down irrespective of the popular opinion. Negative/positive in the mind of the beholder – (is he “Bucco Bruce” or “Golf Cart Man”, has the team made steps or repeating the mistakes of the past). Time will tell, every season brings hope, every season brings skeptics, etc. Hope this is the year, we’ll see what’s on field!

  3. Hey Buc Ass Bob…If Fredster puts $100 on Winston, he wouldn’t get $1,000(10x) he would get $10,000(100x) if Winston is the MVP. That’s how 100 to 1 odds work. You’re welcome!

  4. You are right Big Som why don’t you and Fredster put that 100 each on those guys to be MVP and both of you get that 20,000.
Bet on them to win more than 6 games and cash in on that bet .
I personally do not what to tie up 10,000 dollars for 6 month to get back 10,100 even with being a safe bet.
I do feel safe betting 10,000 that they do not win 6 games because only have to wait 10 to 11 weeks to into season to collect double my money.

  5. This should be a good bet to keep track of. You have the Bucs going 5-11 or worse. I think the playoffs are possible, regardless of the new systems, coaches, and players.

I’m not sure anyone on here would be correct when betting on any player to be the MVP, let alone Winston. Although, if he won the MVP it wouldn’t be the first time Jameis won a national award for outstanding play.

  6. League MVP? Next year? LMAO. However if the team mvp happens to be on the other side of ball we may have play off chance. I think as fans we would rather see play off victory. That is not asking too much considering all the losing we painfully tolerate. However I’ll make that bet next year if Jameis is still here & the O line has improved to average.

  7. There has to be some way for PewterReport to block DumbAssBobs ip address.
He is nothing but a troll.
I am all for listening to different opinions, it makes the posts more interesting.
But DumbAssBobs are always so full of so much negativity and anti Buc feelings it is apparent he is not a fan of the team and is simply a troll.
Please PewterReport, find some way to rid the rest of your faithful the annoyance of having to see his name out here again.
Do I hear any seconds on that motion to ban DumbAssBob.

Do you really want to block every fan that does not like the course and moves of the Tampa Bay Bucs MANAGEMENT?

Do not take my lack of dialogue regarding you or with you as I am not a Fan. I just care for you or the way you communicate. It is disingenuous.

  14. Drdneast, my prediction which is probably not much better is this:

I think BA will bring in his first year at least 2 to 4 wins in addition to what we had last year. Which would put us at 7 to 9 wins in 2019. Although I believe you have to take off at least 2 wins because of the losses in Free Agency and offseason injuries.
My prediction before we get into the regular season and Training Camp is 6-10. We will be improved but it won’t show much in the final results. We are rebuilding regardless of what the Team Management might say. And it will take a couple of Seasons.

  15. I finally realized Ass’ situation. He is actually such a big fan and in Love with the Glaziers and every player so much that he is negative about everything because he’s actually showing how ridiculous it would be if someone actually felt the way he pretends to feel. So from now on I will read Ass’ comments through bob-ssa-cub’s filter. This whole time he actually Loves Winston and thinks he will be the MVP next year! He Loves the Glazier Sons and cannot wait to see The Bowles Defense out there kickin ass this year! You sly dog Ass!

Turned the calendar to July, which means TRAINING CAMP is around the corner. This time last season we had the black cloud of Winston’s 3-game suspension lurking around…..now we have a new HC, a new defense (and it WILL be improved), a kicking coach (WTF?!), etc.

Ready for some football !! Go Bucs!

PS: Enjoy your vacation, Scott, well deserved!

  17. Bob is just the latest in a long line of folks who seem to find more joy in pointing out the mole on Cindy Crawford’s face than seeing any of her qualities. We have always had one person on this forum who dwells on anything negative while finding anything uplifting to be moot. Never encouraged, always discouraged by whatever the team does. Always dismay, never hope.

What makes Bob at least somewhat palatable, as compared to BucFan47 and others, is that Bob doesn’t appear to have his nose in the air looking down at us “casual fans”. I believe Bob was once like many of us who grab onto any morsel of hope. He’s just gotten to the point that even when something looks like it might help the team win, he’s waiting for the other shoe to drop.

To a degree we’ve all gone through the phases of grief since the Super Bowl that seems so long ago. The elation of (2002) was followed by shock (2003) after the Indy game. Then we experienced disbelief, disappointment and later anger (2004-2016) and finally apathy (2017-2018).

So here we are on the threshold of the 2019 season. We all, including Bob, want to find reasons to be excited as Training Camp approaches. Many of us oldsters have just learned to temper our enthusiasm after years of having our hopes so quickly dashed. There are, as there have often been, some positive signs. I like to focus on those instead of Bob’s views.

Better to look forward to the trip to Disney World than to remind myself how much it’s costing, how unbearably hot it will be standing in long lines, listening to unfamiliar jabber, trying to get that It’s a Small World song out of my head and thinking how bad the traffic will be going home.

  18. Buc Ass Bob, I think what gets people is you decided to go out give up on Winston and bash him and the team every chance you get. Occasionally you have good points but I read your posts and note all the factual inaccuracies you have. Recently I went after one of your posts and corrected you on almost every inaccurate detail you put in just one post. Because you do this you are mocked and made fun of.

If you just took the time to make a structured argument the negative thumb’s down may decline. I say may because you have antagonized so many on this board you may beyond redemption at this point.

I am willing to give Winston his last chance this year. If he goes out there with a good defense and a decent running attack and continues to make bone-headed errors that cost the Bucs games, don’t worry, he will be gone after this year – you can count on it.

  19. Buc stops here,
I have known Winston is bust for 3 years, why keep waiting ,after 4 years he has not shown he can lead this team to wins, Keeping him has plunged this team into a cap crisis, causing team to cut a lot of good players.
Bucs management keeps making bad choices.
hiring 2 coaches based on fixing a broken player means you chasing your own tail. A player is broken you pull it ,replace with player not broken.

  20. Since the 75 season the MVP has been a QB roughly 75% of the time; a RB about 24% and once was a LB named Taylor and once a WR named Rice.

I’m not so sure about Evans’s chances, but Winston plays QB and that suggests he’s at least playing the right position to win this award.

If (and it’s an enormous “if”) the Bucs surprised this year – let’s say made the playoffs and won their first game – it would almost assuredly have something meaningful to do with the play of Winston (and yes others too – like the entire defense – but none of them play QB)…and accordingly he would be getting mentions for MVP.

Just saying – if you’re going to place a bet, bet on a QB…and if you’re going to bet on a QB, 100-1 odds in a league with 32 QBs, might not be so bad….if you have drunk the Koolaid and think this team has a shot to “surprise”.

  21. Except for the fact that it’s IMPOSSIBLE to call Jameis a bust when he is surrounded by a bottom 10 OLine, bottom 2 running game led by Hall of Famers Peyton Barber and Ronald Jones ll. Dead last ranked kicking game, and dead last ranked defense, being led by career bum HC Dirk Koetter, and a joke of a DC in Mike Smith. Did I miss anything? Put Brady in this team, and the Bucs are still a last place team missing the playoffs year after year. It’s a team sport, and the TEAM around JW is laughable at best. There’s not a single QB in the league that can succeed with the roster that Jameis has had around him in his career. It’s mind boggling to me that you can’t see that. Your inability to be unbiased, impartial, and reasonable is what continually gets you thumbs downs. It’s to the point where if I see your name, I’ll click the thumbs down without even reading it. That should say it all

  22. It’s disappointing to see Trumpian censorship of opposing views cropping up on this site.

Based on the Bucs and Man U’s track record, the facts support the idea the Glazer kids are out of their depth, to put it kindly, running any sports franchise. Are people so thin skinned they can’t tolerate someone sharing their frustration with our team sucking year after year? Get a life.

  23. Everyone realizes that 100/1 not only represents what you’ll be paid on a dollar bet, but also that those giving these odds are pretty confident it just ain’t gonna happen. Vegas is only out for a sure thing… They don’t like to lose.
Put another way, If I said I would pay you 100 bucks to run across a busy 8-lane highway and you just had to bet a dollar AND give me your dollar to hold onto, would you take that bet?
So what they are really saying here is there is no real chance in hell either of them is going to be MVP.
That said, New England, hasn’t won all these years because they are all great players. I suspect most of their players are on par with other teams in the league. They win because they have better coaching and incredible game planning aimed at shutting down opponents strengths and offensively taking advantage of their weaknesses.
I really believe we have upgraded talent on the defense, especially middle line backers and corners, and also elevated our coaching. And it is those two factors that make me believe we may have the 2019 MVP on our team.
Finally, over the last four years, I have screamed at my TV because even I can tell where Winston is throwing. They have openly talked about getting Winston to go through his reads this year and it seems to be a major focus area. If they correct that, we will have a good season.
