When Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin was scheduled to be on Sirius XM Radio on Thursday night, I’m sure he didn’t expect to be answering such pressing questions about the future of his team’s offense. But, with the news of his quarterback Jameis Winston preparing to be suspended breaking just hours prior, those were the first questions he was asked.

But, Godwin handle it like a pro, as you would expect, reminding everyone that they have 53 (90, right now) players on the roster for a reason.

“On our team, we have a next-man-up mentality,” Godwin said. “We have a ton of faith in Fitz and Ryan Griffin and all of our quarterbacks that, whoever is in there, they’re going to be able to go in and utilize our playmakers and really get the ball moving.

“Obviously, you don’t wish that on anybody, but we’re looking forward to the opportunity that we have ahead, of building through training camp and putting a great product on the field.”

Perhaps not all gloom and doom?

What are you talking about? What Incidents have the Bucs had to defend Winston for? Put the FSU stories aside, this guy has been a model citizen in Tampa.

Getting Evan suspended for one game from the sidelines by starting something for no reason.

The way this offense is built, I would think they should make Fitz, or really and half way decent QB (not saying Ryan Griffin…but some one with some success) look lie a franchise QB to a Hall of Fame QB. If these coaches are half way decent, they should be able to get the team to drink the “focus on football and ignore absolutely everything else” tool-aid. IF they can do that and the gells like a real team should…this season should turn out to be amazing. All this hype around this story with JW and everyone outside of real… Read more »

Correction to my comment- I meant kool-aid not tool-aid. Got to love auto correct.

Of course Godwin says next man up. He is going to benefit the most from Winston’s Suspension. He already has great chemistry with Fitz being they both were 2nd teamers last year. Godwin and OJ Howard should have great games with Fitz at QB.
