The awaited three-game suspension of Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston is the talk of the sport world right now. Whether it’s on television, radio or social media, most NFL and football fans in general are having their timelines and media platforms flooded with not only the news, but the opinions around it.

One opinion, held by Fox News Anchor Eboni K. Williams, who was the moderator on Friday’s episode of Undisputed on FOX Sports, is that Winston’s three-game suspension seems to be a compromise by the league, due to the language in the Conduct Policy that allows them to do so, because there was not enough evidence to fully prove Winston was guilty of the allegations brought against him.

https://twitter.com/SleeperAthletes/status/1010171112003645445

In your mind, is Williams right? Is the league making this bad situation worse by punishing Winston off principle?

Exactly! But all the Jameis haters want to hang the guy by his Johnson, with basically no evidence to this point that can possibly say without a shadow of a doubt, he’s guilty. I thought you were innocent until proven guilty. Ahhh yes, not with Goodell you’re not

Yes, poor Jameis. Always a victim. At FSU and now as a professional. He always has the option of filing an appeal. But why won’t he? Is there more to the story? I’m sure there is. For every time a thief has been caught, he’s usually gotten away with a ton of acts without being caught. Jameis knows he better not open up another can of worms or me may get an entire season (or more).

Enablers need to stop defending this guy.

Morgan, you are a complete MORON. Nothing else needs to be said about you. Unless you were in the Uber, or personally know the girl that NEVER filed any charges( yeah because there’s nothing suspicious about that lol), you know as much as everyone else on this forum….NOTHING!

Dave, the people who assume guilt are the same people who never wanted Jameis Winston in Tampa to begin with. Goodell is an idiot, as he’s proven on so many occasions, and that hasn’t changed with this ruling. He just wants his way, and as a certain Super Bowl MVP will tell you, Goodell gets what he wants regardless of the facts.

Feel free to check out any Bucsnation (or some of PR) articles from the debate over Winston vs Mariota and the rape accusation. You will see that I spent a ton of time poking holes with the accusers testimony as there were legitimate questions at the time. And now you’ll see that I’m able to look at a guy who 2 or so years after being a top overall pick was accused, yet again, of sexual assualt. You will not hear me defend him. Some people are incapable of changing their mind on an issue, but I’m willing to admit… Read more »

EricNV, 100% agreed. All the people that are labeling Jameis guilty, while knowing absolutely NOTHING, are the same jackwaggons that we’re sayig what a horrible pick he was the day he was drafted. They’re completely biased, and have ZERO credibility as a human being or a fan. And pretty much nobody takes a single word they say seriously. Just trolls being trolls

100% agree with her. The length of the suspension is all you need to know that this is a “use the player for sport to protect the shield” situation. Can’t have the ESPN commentators talking trash about how the league handled the situation while Jameis plays on national TV in week 3. If the league had proof of Jameis’s guilt, 3 games wouldn’t be anywhere close to being enough, and there’d be no reason for the two sides to (allegedly) cut a deal.

Perhaps Jameis lied about the situation when questioned by the league (ie who was in the car with him?)…..don’t blame Goddel. Blame the players – they agreed with the current method of handing down suspensions.

I think the CBA also covered the league policy concerning the playing of the national anthem and how the players are to act during it, but Goodell decided to ignore that part of the CBA starting with Kapernick. Goodell is at the center of a lot of BS which has been going on in the NFL over the past 5-6 years. I wish the owners would fire his ass.

I dismissed this a long time ago. I thought it was a he said she said story, and thus probably only half true. At any rate, I never thought it would lead to a suspension. 3 games are really tough especially considering the first three games we play. I really pray this does not destroy his career. Our first Franchise QB, and on the brink of greatness, with all the pieces around him. Such a shame. I still say he needs to appeal it. If Roethlisberger got his suspension knocked down from 6 to 4 games, Winston without a witness… Read more »

What a shock. They can’t prove a thing but the NFL is so scared of the hostile SJW environment that they have to do something anyway. This is leaving us with all kinds of ridiculous suspensions. Brady, Zeke, Winston you name it.

There is that point, yes, but I would also not be surprised in the least if it later came out that Uber driver immediately recognized Jameis Winston and decided to go after some money. He’s paid out once, why not again? His word against her word, just like FSU.

For me, it’s the lack of involvement from the cops which speaks volumes. Something less than criminal occurred. That’s it. The cops have had 2 years to file charges against him and haven’t.

If the Uber driver was making a money grab then why didn’t she lawyer up back in March 2016. Why didn’t she, like Kinsman before her go to authorities or the hospital. Would seem like a really crappy attempt at a money grab to only report it to her boss then let the story go silent for a year.

Is she even suing him? Seems like you are making statements that aren’t accurate here.

Sorry, for some reason my response above or below to BucRy went down here. However, I totally agree with you. Goodell thinks he’s protecting the league with these suspensions and by cow-towing to the SJW snowflakes. All he’s doing is driving away the audience. He needs to be fired, removed, whatever they do to get rid of a commissioner.

Seriously sneedy. I find it fascinating so many Monday morning attorneys apparently know exactly what happened. Funny, because not even nfl experts or writers even know what happened yet. It’s all speculation to this point. But don’t let that stop you from calling Jameis a guilty dirtbag just because you may not like the guy or hated the pick when he was drafted. You people seriously need some help. See how it goes is, a defendant( which he’s not even yet) is innocent until proven guilty. Or have you never seen a cop show in your entire life?

Where there is smoke, there is usually..Fire. And jameis had been involved with a whole lotta smoke from his FSU days until present. Perhaps it is a good idea the NFL did not do an all out investigation of Jameis’s Uber incident. Had they done so, he might be suspended for a whole GD year! Take your 3 game suspension Jameis and consider yourself…Mr. Lucky. But be advised, Your time is growing short. I think one more incident and YOU..are off to the CFL sir.

Did he get drunk? Oh, my. I have never heard of an NFL player getting drunk. Cmon Horse. He took Uber because it was the responsible thing to do. Beyond that, we know nothing else. And how did he lie? The other person in the care claimed that he did nothing, and how do we know exactly when the other person got out of the car? How do we know anything at all happened? This is the NFL trying to fix its image as a protector of wife beaters, and using Winston as the goat.

The facts WinstonMVP, are that Jameis Winston was accused of raping a girl in college. He was never charged based on the evidence and statements provided. He became the number one overall pick in spite of the controversy. Two years into his NFL career he was accused of grabbing another girl in Arizona. Jameis claimed that there were multiple people in the car and he was in the back seat. The NFL investigated and phone GPS support that the other riders in his alibi were not present in the car as he alleged. That would support Jameis’ had lied about… Read more »

NFL punishments are more like civil court trials not criminal trials. Beyond a reasonible doubt is only a criminal court thing. That’s why in many cases when someone fails to get convicted in criminal court they lose the civil trial. It’s a lower burden proof but punishment is still warranted.

Honestly the league isn’t tough enough on these players. If this happened to any of us most employers would fire you for it. The problem is they aren’t consistent enough with their punishments.

Statistically speaking, most sexual assaults do not get reported to the police. Read the report from the Uber driver…. she doesn’t want fame or money. She reported Winston and outed him publicly because she was standing up for what is right. Jameis was caught in a lie, as forensic evidence from cell phone GPS showed Darby was not with him. Now we have an update that Jameis was hanging out with a convicted rapist, getting too drunk at the club and being sent away alone in an Uber. Innocent people don’t lie. Guilty people lie.
