And on top of that, look at how Mesidor and Bain play. They were coached up beautifully by Aaron Taylor. Most fans don’t understand what they are seeing. But the discipline; the reaction to reach blocks; the technical aspects of the pass rush counters; the knee drop when getting double teamed; the hip and arm extension power; the technique in setting the edge; and on and on. These two players have tons of talent, but they aren’t the players they’ve become without the exceptional coaching they’ve received.

It's Jason Taylor, brother. Aaron Taylor is former OL from Notre Dame that played in the league for a few years. Jason Taylor is the HOF DE that played for Todd Bowles with the Dolphins and now coaches at the U.
@biggs3535 yes, thank you. I’m horrible with names at times. Jason Taylor is him.
Yes, thank you Biggsy,
(Biggs can let one slide, but two was just one too many).
I have to confess, I’m concerned about the d-line/OLB coaching. Bain’s clearly taken to Jason Taylor’s coaching and incorporated swim, club, hand fighting to maximize his power and mitigate the arm length issue, but staying with it when Taylor isn’t there every day is a bit of a concern.
as such, I’m not sure about coaches Foote & West working with Bain - as there aren’t a lot of results of them improving Buccaneer edges to point to. Some of it may be a lack of talent of recent edge rusher’s we’ve given them, but how much of it was a lack of coaching?
How do you explain teams like Jacksonville, who went from 4-13 to 13-4 in one season with a new coaching staff? They mostly had the same players, but the coaching staff changed completely.
There are regularly teams that outperform the previous season after a coaching change. Obviously talent is important, but the good coaches get the best out of the talen
While true the Jags did have a very talented defense before Coen arrived. Coen re organized the offense to be more lean and mean to be honest.
It is not like I am downplaying Coen Or Mac contributions as coaches but to ignore them walking into talented groups is a bit much. That is why I disagree.

Sure, their D had talent, but their performance sucked. That's kinda the point. Coen "reorganizing" the offense as you put it is part of coaching. He, and his coaching staff, got more out of the talent on the team than the previous staff.
2024 Jags: 25th overall offense, 26th scoring offense, 31st overall defense, and 28th scoring defense
2025 Jags: 11th overall offense, 6th scoring offense, 11th overall defense, and 8th scoring defense
That is with pretty much the same talent.

I hear you. It can be a chicken/egg debate. But it's hard to argue that Jacksonville's improvement in record and statistics is anything other than coaching. It was more or less the same team. They didn't have any great free agents or draft picks, with Travis Hunter doing dick in his rookie season.

What could've been.
Glazers are idiots.

Coen deserves massive credit but he did change out the offensive roster. Probably 6 maybe 7 changes at the top of the first depth chart. One of those changes was Hainsey.
Still, especially on offense the credit goes more to Coen then changing out talent because its his scheme and that scheme got the best of out the QB etc
It is true that Jacksonville has undergone more personnel changes on offense and it is ongoing this off season as Coen is doing continuous adjustments. However at some point to keep up with the Texans and Colts they need to keep stacking talent. The big struggle with Jacksonville since Kahn took over is that they are very good at adding talent but do not have the coaching. Or they have coaching but they fall short of adding talent.
I am not so sure the Jacksonville can replicate what they did last season this year given the influx of talent the Texans and Colts have added this off season. Coeh is a good coach and Campanile is underrated. But they need their recent draft classes to come through to keep pace with the Texans and Colts. I do not think they can count on the Colts losing Daniels Jones again for a good chunk of the season. Or the Texans Stroud is going to break out at some point too seeing they keep investing in that OL.
Gladstone is a liability.

This is going to be fun to watch because its 100% Coen's team now. Well the QB might be an exception
@bucsbits - to see how Jacksonville took off last season and how the Bucs fell off, is such a great example of coaching at work. He maximizes his offensive lines talents and performance. Our current offensive line may never look as good as it did in 2024. Because good coaches scheme up easy wins. Bad coaches rely on their talent to win every play.

yes I completely agree.
it remains to be seen how Coen does as a HC long term, but his impact on the offense was obvious and immediate.

Campanile's impact can't be overlooked.
Takes a unit ranked 27th in points allowed to 8th in his 1st season as DC.
Damn, what could've been...

yes good point.
