Gladstone is a liability.
Maybe he is and maybe Coen should take 100% control. But he just started so he has some leeway and can work with Coen.

It's just odd with some of the draft picks he's made. Boselli is in the building. Seems like he would have some influence on Gladstone unsuccessfully trying to out think the room.
Coen refused to go to Jags unless he got to pick him GM.
Yes, exactly. That and the picks say Coen 100%
I do believe Coen has more say given he picked the GM, but Gladstone doesn't seem to be on page with Coen 100% yet. Udinski has a lot of say on offensive personnel too and when the Vikings lost him the Vikes started to struggle with some personnel decisions on offense. I guess that is a huge gain for the Jags.
Gladstone doesn't seem to be on page with Coen 100% yet
he arguably distanced himself from the Jags 2026 draft calling it "strategically bold."
I hope Coen succeeds but as every Bucs fan surely knows there is MUCH MORE to being a HC than being a coordinator and a HC in the true power position can have terrible long term consequences. The John Gruden coup and all that followed, an easy example.
That is why it is a very perplexing situation because Coen chose him and then his own GM is creating distance from that 2026 draft. This does not make sense logically. But with that said the Jags overall did have a good draft in fact might be better than last year's draft in the long run.
Bucs with the 8th oldest team . . STILL . . and part of that is the "win now" moves on defense
"Tampa's defense is much older than its offense, at least by NFL standards. The average age of the Bucs defense is 26.44, making it the fourth-oldest defense in the league. On offense, the average age is 25.91, ranking as the 12th youngest in the NFL.
On offense, Bucs' QB Baker Mayfield is 31 years old, and WR Chris Godwin Jr. is 30. Tampa is fortunate to boast many young impact players on offense, with WRs Emeka Egbuka and rookie Ted Hurst only 23 and 21. RB Bucky Irving is also only 23.
However, the average age of many of Tampa's most important defenders is a cause for concern. DT Vita Vea, the heart of the Bucs' defense, is already 31. Fellow defensive tackles A'shawn Robinson and Rakeem Nunez-Roches are 31 and 32. Newcomers Alez Anzalone and Al-Quadin Muhammad, both signed in free agency from the Detroit Lions, are both 31 years old.
Free Agency Made Tampa Older, Not Younger
In an effort to win now, free agency made Tampa older, not younger. Adding the trio of Anzalone, Muhammad, and Robinson, while resigning Nunez-Roches, was a strategy that may pay off in the short-term. However, emphasizing experience over youth might cost the team in the long run.
Bucs purposely signed older vets because the young guys on defense missed too many assignments. It was obvious last year with the free lancing of Dennis, Smith and Winfield Jr.
Ironically you didn't see a lot of free lancing from Morrison or Parrish. And I doubt Walker will do that with his debut of the 2026 rookie defenders. Bucs went out of their way to sign and draft players that are technical players and film junkies.
I think that is a result of having a lot of talented players that are playing like loose cannons out there like McCollum, Smith, Winfield Jr and Dennis.

Probably because he spent a huge chunk of the season in the tub.

I think Dennis maybe a little shell-shocked or out of his depth, but yes agree on McCollum and Smith. AWJ is a little tough to tell because on ce things start to break down safeties are often in position to look bad. Trying to do too much etc.
The average age of the Bucs defense is 26.44, making it the fourth-oldest defense in the league
This is also completely false.
