The problem with the Bucs interior OL depth last season was they had to resort to brining outsiders and not even use players like Klein who were already on the roster. Brining back Feeney and then drafting Schrauth wasn't a big attempt by Licht's part to improve.
Chuk and Skule with Barton moonighting at LT is more than enough than most NFL teams can put together as tackle depth.
Lichts #1 objective should have been to obtain a guard that can step in, because you can always have Bredeson kick to center if Barton has to move or is out. Or have Feeney play center and have Barton move. Mauch being out really stalled the Bucs run game and Mayfield can make magic happen but he needs help.

Correct. They had to bring in and play outside FA's because the guy they drafted sucks. Klein couldn't run block for shit. Interestingly enough, the Lions just added him to their PS - because OL depth across the league is pretty poor.
It turns out simply drafting backups may not be the only answer.
But he doesn't do anything great either. He's exactly average,
He has absolute elite speed and is a home run threat.
From a pure running perspective, he's above average.
That being said, he's absolute trash in pass protection.
Not, Bucky bad (might be the worst in the league)...but it's pretty close.
Yet one is the starter and one is hanging on by a thread
And, yet, they still gave $10M in guaranteed money to Gainwell.

That's the whole point of rounds 4-7. Depth and projects and special teams.

I simply don't view him as a "true RB1" that I'm willing to sign to a big contract.
