CB position aside from Scott is a deep concern in my opinion. I think it is the glaring weakness on this defensive unit.
Given how often the DBs have to rotate on the back end because of the blitzing that Bowles has to do a veteran CB is kind of a high priority as Morrison is way behind with his football conditioning and lacks experience in this defense.
The boundary CBs have to squeeze properly when playing off coverage too. Fortunately Scott and Garnes have shown they can plant and drive to deny easy passes when playing zone. I just think the Bucs FO wants to see the young guys play more but you have to balanced that with the reality that you are 1 injury away at boundary CB from having to force Garnes/Scott to play boundary. And if Scott is playing boundary you have to shuffle someone else to play nickel. It just doesn't make sense honestly. Nothing against Hayes or Morrison but they are both projects at boundary CB at this point and Hayes it a top tier ST player.Â

it hard to tell but with the cross training approach to Scott, I would guess a healthy Morrison is a starter and Parrish goes inside. Could be wrong, but I dont see reports of Scott locking down Nickle. I only see reports of him playing safety, outside etc., like he's a reserve without a dominant home right now.

Agreed. Â We have addressed so many spots on the defensive side of the ball but, yeah, we are going to be thin at DB.
As a unit, we should be measurably better though.
"The Bucs just had Josiah Trotter come off the edge in one-on-ones against Jags OL. He FLIES right by the offensive tackle with low bend for the would-be sack. Woah."

The best play making linebacker in the second round. Crazy.
Trotter Jr can play downhill like Dennis for pressures, TFLS and sacks. But the true value of Trotter Jr is that he can avoid blocks to blow up plays and stack and shed like a traditional Mike LB. Trotter Jr isn't going to be swept up by the trash and will find a way to the ball carrier like a guided missile. Combined with playing next to a vet like Anzalone and they both are going to clean up good. Big difference from last season with LVD and Dennis. Â
At this point Dennis being out injured again means he is going to lose a chance to compete for the starting job down the stretch as the season opener nears. But that is the story with Dennis where he does not have enough experienced because of constant injuries and flashes potential. Morrison is on a similar trajectory now but he is younger and has more runway to make progress.
Well, yeah, of course. I am curious how they intend to use him when the game counts. The larger point being we are ridiculously thin in a position that requires quality players......in a passing league. That does not bode well for the Bucs.CB position aside from Scott is a deep concern in my opinion. I think it is the glaring weakness on this defensive unit.

Burrow Chase and Higgins await...
"Jacksonville’s recently shuffled offensive line gave Buccaneers defensive tackle Calijah Kancey genuine opportunities, and he converted often in the teams period. Kancey got to Lawrence twice in 11-on-11 with sacks, with the Buccaneers adding a third would-be sack during the two-minute drill. That production line was also reflected in the defensive line, offensive line one-on-one period. The cumulative count for Tampa Bay sacks during teams was three to four would-be takedowns, depending on the source. While the day was an overall success for the Jacksonville offense, this was one area of clear concern.

Yup it is madness that Licht is sleep walking through this off season. Â
Bain injured AC (shoulder). Supposedly not serious
Bain will be fine. He has shown enough and will be ready to go for the opener so he will rest up.
Just looking at this roster and it is clear they need to shore up TE and interior OL. Also not sure why they want to go so young at boundary CB because communication issues have been a problem and veteran CBs tend to do better playing off coverage and quarters.Â

Still not good to lose repsÂ
