Next argument.

Why?

This guy CLEARLY knows what he's talking about.

For example, you have this from @badabingbucs

lets find out who the leader of the offe....oh it's the quarterback.  Chat GBT confirmed.

I mean, it's Chat "GBT" confirmed.

But, then, not even 24 hours later, he says....

Evans and David - leaders of O and D

It's weird...

I know you don't think much of Mayfield but isn't possible Mayfield sees that change as a possibility even if he plays okay? He likely sees a good market for his services outside the Bucs

Correct.

Which is why, if you think "he's the guy", you get the deal done now.

yes agreed

or at a minimum why they might not be able to.

For a self-described Baker-boi, he sure has a lot of preferences ready to go.

Baker is not a bridge QB, he’s a quality NFL starter with some special traits, on his 3rd contract.

The next ex-first round QB won’t be found in next years draft.

LOL!

Why do I not believe him when he uses so many words, many of them insisting that he’s a Baker-bro, but that he just really thinks it’s time to move on.

I mean, if he’s your guy?

Again, Jason Licht and I are not saying we don’t want Baker. We are just telling you we are waiting to sign him to another contract until the 2026 season plays out

It was similar to his take on Evans leaving.

In one thread, he said that he was washed.

Not 24 hours later, he's claiming we'll miss him and losing him makes our offense worse.

You can't make this shit up.

🤡

Well, as you said, he did run it by Chat GBT…

Could be that by waiting everyone gets what they really want, I don’t think that’s a great strategy, it discounts/delays what they’ve done on adding Hurst on the offensive side, and Bain/Keionte on the defensive side.

Being short-sighted with your quality starting QB is an approach I’d expect from that nutty organization that runs a team like the Bengals, not so much the Bucs. Not that we’re altruistic, but I kinda think OBP would like to see this team win the division and make a serious run this season. Would have made it easier if we’d gotten a cover ‘backer, but we’ll see.

maybe it was a different thread but if baker would have repeated his 2024 dominance in 2025, do you think he’d still not extended here in May 2026?

Honest question. Want to see if we are somehow going to spin it that multi billionaires just don’t have the cash (another poster claimed this 🤡) or if it’s another  reason

I think there’s enough blame for who was really responsible for the collapse of the defense; Licht even admitted recently that he took responsibility for not addressing the defense through free agency. I think Licht hiring Grizz as OC to create the problems on offense.

Its clear that the OC was a problem, especially after the injuries forced an o-line deployment that was less than NFL caliber, thankfully Carberry was there to get them ready for most of what we saw in the first 6 wins. Baker did some outstanding work in those early wins & did put the team on his back in a few of those wins, especially ATL, Houston, San Fran and Seattle… but after the Detroit game, Baker was beaten to a pulp by some better defenses.

The defense definitely gave some games away, as evidenced by an inability to even make that stop on 3rd & 28.

So no, I do NOT think the team puts much of the blame for last season on Baker. I think it seems like point you’d bring up in negotiation, but I bet Licht & Greeny don’t. If you want your guy, and you want to open negotiations early, you do that to get your guy locked up.

Baker is clearly negotiating, and he knows the Bucs want a deal, too. There’s no assurance in drafting a QB that can step in and take over a team built around Baker, and be immediately successful. Baker knows what the Bucs invested in around him. To me, moving on from Baker - as a strategy - would be way down on their preferred outcome assessment.

One outcome gives you the best chance of leveraging the current talent - with a better OC. The other is based on hope that you can find a QB in the middle to bottom of the first round that might eventually win some games.

The fact that this team can’t draft a QB in 50 years should tell you to hang on to a guy who can win, as long as you can.

But many Buc fans still have this weird fascination with the next ex-first round QB. You tell me how that’s worked out.

logically speaking it doesn't follow that accepting your hypothetical above = not extended yet because of 2025 play, especially when they fired the OC etc

I think you get that but since you keep pushing the "not extended because of 2025 play" thought to mention the leap

no one?

I think PR reported that the Bucs run on a cash budget equal to the cap so maybe it's a play on that?

badabing, bored during the slow period?

Its clear that the OC was a problem,

The BIGGEST problem, and it's not even close.

That, and Bowles having a HEAVY hand in the offensive game plans.

Outside of 2-3 QB's, nobody was going to be successful with that setup.

I said that yesterday in a thread.

This has been common knowledge, with the exception of the Brady window.

so maybe it's a play on that?

If it was, then, the stupidity is off the charts.
