was just a dumb pick in the 5th round. He will hardly see the field this year and we have a desperate need at CB. Our corners are not very good and they are injury prone. We should have picked the best corner available in the 5th. In the meantime, we need to pick up a veteran CB somehow. Our defense could be elite if we had good corners but, they will be the demise of this team unless we can pick up a good one somehow.

to be honest, i'm not sure a 5th round CB would have made Bucs defense elite here in 2026

just the last 2 years, we've selected Keionte Scott (4th round), Benjamin Morrison (2nd round) and Jacob Parrish (3rd round).

Our defensive line depth is pretty thin.  I mean we don't even know what kind of player we got in Calijah Kancey and him going down hurt significantly last year.  We now have Vita Vea going into his age 31 season.  Yikes.

It's very likely Capehart is a non factor, maybe out of the NFL in 4 years...but the same could be said of anyone drafted in the 5th round.

Bucs have plenty of young CBs they need a veteran CB.

Capehart pick is fine as they need to develop more young DL.  Vea and Nunez-Roches are nearing the end of their respective careers.  Robinson is only signed to a 1 year deal too.

Snead signed with the chiefs 1yr 5m

Pretty fucking frustrating we aren't getting in on that type of action

There were plenty of guards that could be upgrades over Bredeson for $5 mil too. Bredeson as your primary backup at center or guard is perfectly fine as he is set to make $2.436MM

Bredeson actually has played very well for us. One, however who has not played well for us is Barton. He is a terrible center and that project needs nixed. Bredeson should start at center and try Barton at guard and if that fails, put him at tackle.

Exactly. Seems like all of the good teams get players like this on good deals but, we don't.

Never said we would get an elite one in the 5th but, at least we could have added more depth and who knows, maybe we get a gem there. Our D-Line is far from thin this year and a whole lot deeper that corner. Vea, Kancey, Robinson, Roches, Roberts, and edge with Bain, Diably, Nelson, Muhammad, Walker, Braswell, Kamara. That is much more quality and depth than we've had in quite a while.

There's a difference between a lot of CB's and one's who can actually play and stay on the field. I agree 100% we need a veteran CB.

5th rounder for a developmental DT with 1st round athleticism? I’ll take it. It wasn’t a stupid pick AT ALL. Frankly, the DT position needed another body, especially since Kancey gets hurt every year and Vita is in the last year of his contract. As for CB, they took Keionte Scott in round 4, and if he can step into the primary nickel, they’ve then freed up Parrish to be a starting outside CB. I’m not saying they couldn’t use more corner help, but saying they should have used a 5th rounder on a CB instead of Capehart doesn’t make sense. I mean, unless you can give an example of a CB who was available at the same pick who could contribute this year, I think this is just a stupid argument. I trust Licht’s evaluations and I’m pretty pumped about Capehart’s upside.

Also, offensive line is the least of my concerns, and Bredeson is a decent starter. As for Barton, last year was only his second year playing center, so he’s still got room to grow into the position, and he doesn’t lack for ability. Sometimes this kind of roster nitpicking lacks perspective.

careful with the Ben bredeson slander! there are many on this board that contribute his injury as the main reason for the collapse at the end of the year! 😎

He wasn't as bad as people say. I mean, wwhen you look at his 2nd quarter performances in games 1, 4, 7, 12 and 16. Not bad. In fact, they should extend him now. They will need him to protect Arch Manning .. err . . .Baker

No, he hasn't.

Should be a depth piece. Not a starter.
